Yeah, I have starcraft but I don't have broodwar and I was wonder what editor i could download for it. I tryed Xtra 2.6 but I needed broodwar. Can anyone recomend a nice one with better triggers then the regular star edit. What I exactly wanna do is this!

Make attacks on 50+ men! <regular staredit works fine for that>
Build town from scratch <regular staredit work a little bit for that>
Created new men when their kill <staredit doesnt do that at all that i could find>

but i would like to do more things but im new to this and i just needed a good editor with better triggers etc smile.gif i would appricate a reply very much

thanks
robert!

Use Starforge or SCMDraft.
There is no such thing as better triggers.

I don't understand what your getting at with what you want to do, but either starforge or scmdraft will work good (i think) as long as you stay away from brood war units or triggers.

which would be better if either.. starforge or scm draft

You really must be new because for the 2nd thing, you have to tell us what kind of city you are trying to build exactly and for the 3rd thing just do:
Players:
Whatever players, odds are you want the owner of the unit
Conditions:
Player Commands 0 of "unit"
Actions:
Create 1 of "unit" for Player

-OR- (if they have to die)

Conditions:
Player suffers one death of "unit"
Actions:
Create 1 "unit for player
and
Subtract one death

that is pretty obvious, unless I'm getting at something weird.
And different triggers? Are you talking like EUD stuff? That's not supported on B.net

scm draft is better

I prefer starforge, but that might just be because i've been using it alot longer. Im not saying SCMdraft is bad though... its a great program. Starforge also crashes alot too tongue.gif

ya scm draft may be a bit more newbie friendly because of the classic staredit trigger plugin and such. but not too say i dont use starforge too. tongue.gif

I have found that starforge has always been messing up my maps for some reason. Other people also say that it also puts random bugs into maps and then the maps won't work correctly. I am sticking with SCM Draft but I still use starforge every now and then.

i just tryed scm forge its telling me the richie20.dll isnt found and i see it in the dir... plus it said broodwar files missing so it might now work.... so i guess im have to try starforge huh? ... and if i use create it makes them without having to build them semi oppsite of kill... and i want it to build them from the factory

Scmdraft2 and Starforge are approximately the same in my eyes, each having their own advantages or disadvantages.
For triggers, I prefer Starforge, but it's impossible to add real triggers. One thing you can do is use AI scripts, which can be found in X-tra and I heard in Scmdraft. Those can be considered extra triggers, but often have some small bugs or glitches. If you want to make a Starcraft regular map, just dont touch the advanced features and save the map in .scm format, not .scx which is usually shown in the scmdraft2 and starforge menu.

SCMDraft2 requires Brood War. I'm not sure about StarForge.

There are no such thing as better triggers. Triggers are built in to the Starcraft Gaming Engine and no matter what editor you use, there are only certain triggers you can run.

Your asking for opinion not fact. Find out which one fits you the best. I use Starforge. For those of you crashers, i have never crashed using starforge except in doing something that cannot be done. For instance, putting in an incorrect field, i SOMETIMES crash. then i get pissed because i just took a punishment for a simple mistake i made pinch.gif

When you say a town do u mean like a badlands city with extended terrain.. im not sure u mean this but if u do you'd want Starforge. Also, if i understand you correctly are you saying you want to build units from a factory that weren't origionally made from there? If so that's impossible. Your descriptions are very hard to understand and vague. You may want to describe what you want a bit more. Like what is "them" and ect. It's all a bit confusing to me. Also, triggers are the same in all editors. There's no such thing as better triggers, except EUD which were patched by blizzard.

Build town from scratch <regular staredit work a little bit for that>

If you mean, "I want to be able to place units for all different races for the same player", then any other map editor, such as Xtra editor, StarForge, or SCMDraft2 will allow you to do that.
But I can think of a lot of other things that you might mean. Could you explain a bit more fully what you want?

Created new men when their kill <staredit doesnt do that at all that i could find> [sic]

If you mean, "When one of my guys dies, give me a new guy", then you can do that in Staredit's triggers smile.gif
To find out when one of your guys dies, use the "Deaths" condition. You can use the action "Set deaths" to change death counts.
Trigger
Players:
¤ Player 1
Conditions:
¤ Current player has suffered at least 1 deaths of Terran Marine.
Actions:
¤ Set deaths for Current player: Subtract 1 for Terran Marine.
¤ Create 1 Terran Marine at "SpawnLocation" for Current Player.
¤ Preserve trigger.
