what makes your vision go elsewhere when you hit spacebar in sc?

It moves your vison to your Start Location. so if you get your start location coordinates you can make that be fire or something.

It goes to site of last transmission (or Start Location by default). Very useful in a melee game.

dam.....how would i make that last transmission be kept on one spot throughout the game? =/ will it cause lagg?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Joshgt2 on 2005-11-07 at 21:54:25
It is on one spot... the starting location... Unless you mean something else
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Do-0dan on 2005-11-07 at 22:22:29
oh......i thought transmissions were those times when the picture frame of the unit changes to something else caused by stuff like your units being attacked.......

the location moves from the start location when a upgrade is completed, unit built, building completed. Pretty much anything that gets a minimap ping when its completed.

In melee, if I recall correctly, it goes to the newest Nexus, Comand Center or Hatchery that you have created. The start location moved to the new main building. I don't think it goes to when you upgraded or did something.

Damn, that would work well for selecting a weapon type and firing by using <spacebar>....

actually i was gonna make a flying game where u control an interceptor and move it around with arrows
how you shoot: you are allied to everything at first, but when you hit spacebar, bad guys in your surrounding area will become unallied, hopefully making u shoot, and if that doesnt work then i have another idea
woot space dogfiiights!!!

Just use flying unit explosions over an observer as projectiles.

ew, no if u have to know, im gonna use scanner sweep as backup for shooting
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2005-11-08 at 17:21:37
sounds like a neat map can't wait to play it biggrin.gif

and i've tested it, it does go to the last completed unit or upgrade

How are you going to detect a scanner sweep?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2005-11-08 at 17:36:39
EUD condition, they can do almost anything biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Turin.oO on 2005-11-08 at 19:10:17
Pressing f4 centers view on your start location ALL the time. As has been stated, spacebar goes to last transmission DEFAULT is start location. Do not get confused with exiting starcraft, that is alt+f4. F4 ALWAYS centers at your start location.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Do-0dan on 2005-11-08 at 19:13:00
would you be comfortable pressing f4 to fire?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Turin.oO on 2005-11-08 at 19:20:03
to fire? what does centering the screen at a certain point have to do with firing? Are you using EUD conditions?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Do-0dan on 2005-11-08 at 19:28:53
when your screen goes to that area, you shoot, plz dont make me explain...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2005-11-08 at 20:16:43
Took make the same affect you can just make the people hotkey a unit to center on the location...but spacebar is cooler biggrin.gif

Aren't scanner sweeps units and can be detected just like Dark Swarms? because there is a scanner sweep unit in Starforge...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Do-0dan on 2005-11-08 at 20:38:11
all the more easier biggrin.gif maybe ill add primary and secondary fire........

I'm pretty sure you can detect Scanner Sweeps. I remember someone wanted to make a "Vision Gun" (Scanner Sweep shooting system.)

EDIT: Never mind, apparently it won't work:

http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=6164&hl=

You can still use the condition "Commands" though, but that won't find a location. :-/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Turin.oO on 2005-11-09 at 22:05:58
Yeah you could use hotkeys. That would be pretty cool. And then you could do it like on mario kart where you can't move it around and you make it all black so they can't see it. You would have to tell everybody that in order to center on it you have to hit it twice though.
