Eh, this really isn't the right forum.

Ctrl-M to turn off music hassle-free.

Just get some quick action thing that repeats at least 8 measures or more, any shorter and the repetition won't sound good no matter how good it is.

The speed on which it takes to download maps depends on the quality of the host and downloader. To compress WAVs, you can use Windows Sound Recorder.

Here is the tutorial

The reason why the music sounds bad is probably because it is compressed. The more compressed it is, the worse it sounds.

Wasn't there something a while back that would add the WAVs to your patch, so you could use 'sizeless sounds' that weren't originally in the game?

Virtual Sounds. Basically, you added wav files to the MPQ archives in the Starcraft directory. Somebody was going to make a program you downloaded, that basically added in all sounds into your archive that people have submitted.

Theoritcally, if the sounds database got big enough, there would be more than enough sounds to meet the needs of your map, keeping the map a small size.

However, most people on Battle.net wouldnt have the sounds, so they wouldn't hear any sounds being played. I believe eventually, the project was scrapped because nobody on SEN could grasp the idea of Virtual Sounds.
