If true, the case of 25-year-old Andrew Stimpson

IF one man can cures aids, why hasn't the hordes of doctors, scientists, and great thinkers solved most of Avian flu, SARS, or even the common cold?

you obviously haven't read the article. Read before you post. Its his immune system, not that he actually researched and cured it. God farking lazy illegitimate childs roam these forums.

There is a legitimate report of HIV-resistant prostitutes in Africa.

First, they don't know if first test was wrong.

I still don't beleive it.

maybe the human immune system is starting to evolve...or maybe his immune system got lucky in killing all of the infected cells before the viruses got to all of them, or it could just be that the test had an error......but i like the first 2 theories better

There was the woman who was immune to aids a while back, similar thing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kashmir on 2005-11-13 at 15:34:32
no, being immune to it and getting it then fighting it off isn't the same.

Women: Immune, can never get it
The guy: Had it, then got rid of it.

Since he isn't going for more tests I'm starting to think its one of those scams where the person implants a tube into his arm, right next to vein. He could of put his blood into it and infected that blood, then on the second test removed it. Some doctor who killed someone did it. Nearly got off.

Testing positive does not mean you have it. It just means they picked up the virus. It could mean a number of things.

I don't 100% believe it! I want more tests!

Well, life always finds a way.....

edit: don't avoid swear filters

The first test could of been wrong or he could of had some other kind of virus that tested positive for hiv. OR maybe he makes magical sandwitches that cure HIV....

Also, if this was such a big deal, other news sources would have said SOMETHING.
BBc, Cnn, ect.

I've been tested for HIV before and they test the blood sample three times before they tell you the results (I tested negative FYI). I think it's very possible to kick AIDS, I just don't think that western medicine has caught on. I believe that there are natural medicines out there that stand a much greater chance than western medicine.

I remember hearing about a four year old boy that was born with it and managed to fight off the disease. But I was probably 11 or 12 when I heard it so my memory on that case could be a bit inaccurate.

Um, maybe he just built up an immunity to it? If the infection was small enough, that is.

Testing positive DOES mean you have it.

HIV is not AIDS. They are two entirelly different things. HIV leads up to AIDS.

So technically, he DID have it, just did not have AIDS
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SpaceBoy2000 on 2005-11-14 at 01:06:03
It depends what it means by testing positive. EVERY medical test has some degree of error involved. Sure, it's a very minute chance that you'd test positive when you don't have it, or vice-versa, but it will still occur. So, it all depends on what they mean by "tested positive". Does it mean it was just one single test? Or he tested positive a few times with different samples?

If this is true, then great. But until there's more information, I'd like to stay sceptical.

I think the most understandable scenerio is that he HAD HIV but since he is a sandwich maker he created a cure for HIV in his sandwichs. We should send people with HIV and test it out.

Alright, according to the 2 tests he took, the first was HIV positive, the next was negative. After the second test he refuses to be tested again. Ignorance is bliss?
I doubt he's completly rid of the virus, the second test was probably taken during a time when his body was sucessfully FIGHTING the virus, not killing it.

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention that you reminded me of... When I got tested months ago, the doctors there said it takes HIV approx 3 months after the first encounter with it before it has a noticable presence in your blood.

...I'm still clean by the way biggrin.gif
