Staredit Network -> Modding Assistance -> How To Make A Unit Self-Destruct
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TerminaterCE on 2005-11-13 at 13:52:03
Well, I Want To Make A Warcrafty-Mod, And Technically Add A Race For An UMS Map. I Want To Make It So I Can Press A Button (Using Memgraft1.13e) And The Unit Self-Destructs And Causes Damage Within A Range Like A Wisp From War3 Can. Can Anybody Instruct Me On Doing This?

You could make a suicide weapon then I think you could do something crazy like changing the burrowing iscript to a useweap command...

But I don't think there is an "attack ground" option coded into SC, so I'm not sure if this can be done.

The "Attack Ground" option is located in the Targeting Flags parts of weapons.dat. Precisely - it is the 0x40 flag that is responsible for this. However, this works only for certain spells, so youąd have to experiment a bit...

But I'm almost sure I've heard about someone having done this already - go back a few posts and check it, or run a Search for 'suicide' or something like that.

Actually it works for regular attacks as well (see infested terrans suicide)

EDIT: nevermind...the infested terran doesnt have 0x40 checked even though it can attack ground so they probably made it a hardcoded exception

That may have more to do with it's MemGraft attack action. It has Attack(Suicide) instead of the normal Attack.
