I liked the old one with the censor smiley. You can tell when they were actually saying it, unless they put the emoticon on purpose.

How about something like f k? I'd be willing to do that. Sadly there's spaces in there which I can't remove.

Even though I like Moose's suggestion because you can actually infer what was the word being used and get more meaning out of the sentence, it looks more profesional to have a .

For now, instead of "fark" you could just censor it yourself and insert the smilely until an Admin can change the filters (which doesn't take more than 10 minutes, it takes more time to think about it than change it).

Oohhh ohhh I got one! How about S***, F***, or F**k, and S**t and so on!

The smiley was the best option. You can never satisfy everybody.
I'd use those or just remove the filters competely, I don't think anybody's going to have a problem with them. In the first StarCraft (non-expansion), you here everything but "f**k". So, if we're using the "13+ rating = 13+ site" logic, then "f**k" should be the only thing censored.

He should keep frontal fun hole though, and and posterior fun hole. Just for adding hilarity where it doesn't belong.

Having personalized smileys for everyone would be too haevy on Bandwith and space for the little importance that it has. It'll also be too troublesome for the mods to make srue they are all apropiate.

A problem arises within your sarcasm, they could just set the swear to the same word.

How about a user configureable option to change the swear filters on and off for that member, then? That'll make everyone happy.

I really like the idea of having a custom swear filter for each person, they would all then go through a second filter onsite to make sure they hadn't just put the swearwords themselves as the filtered words. However, this does seem to scream "high bandwidth use" to me.
