Hey I was recently playing a game, "Arbiter Defense", and there was a picture on the map CLEARLY not drawn from hand. That got me thinking about those "nudy picture" maps and stuff. How do they get the picture to change into SC tiles?

Is there a program that does this?

The program just posted will enable you to take any 128x128 image or smaller into a StarCraft map image. The colors might not come out being the greatest for some images but you can always adjust the color selection. If you need help than just post back. I know a lot about this program because I talk to the designer of it all of the time.

cool thanks, I'm guessing that high contrast images like text on transparent work the best?

Also if you wanted to add the picture and put it somewhere in your map you could create the file with picture mapper and then copy/paste it onto the map your working on.

Copy and paste? WHAT! how do you do that? in SCM Draft?

First you need the most updated version of SCMdraft. Then what you need to do is go to "copy/paste" where there is terrains, locations etc. Once your under that, highlight the area you want to copy, hit ctrl+c, and then hit ctrl+v on the place you wish to copy.

Can you copy and paste from a map to another map?

Yes, you can. Try it out for yourself smile.gif

Note that copy pasted terrain that is normal staredit terrain now acts as separate squares, though, and it can add to the file size slightly. This should not be a problem for simply copying a picture, though.

And for the more advanced users, there is the BMP2SCM

I do all my terrain by hand. Picture mapper is kinda frowned upon.

There Is A Huge Difference In Quality With SCPM And Drawing By Hand.
Hand Drawn
Then Compare It To A SCPM'd One

No Comparison.

That all depends on your own skill. Not everyone sucks. I have a friend who could make any picture he wanted and it would look like scpm made it.

my friend is not a lier because i know if i really wanted to spend THAT much time on it, i could do it too. But i really really don't want to waste my time on something like that. Its not as hard as you think if you learn to pay attention to detail.
