Wishlist - does this stuff exist??
1 - A Starcraft Editor that works and is good too.
When I make maps, I have to use Starforge to do the terrain, player colors, and some of the bulk trigger editing, where I have to copy and paste a lot. Also it has the map revealer placer.
Then I have to switch back to Xtra to do things like edit comments or displaytext triggers (because starforge just wont do it after a while). Xtra automatically removes all the map revealers because they are "illegally placed", because Starforge places them all on the same pixels. Also, Xtra just changes the player colors back to "boring".
Then when I save the file, Xtra suddenly forgets that it had sounds, and can no longer access the file (even though it actually does save the file).
So then I have to use Starforge to open the file again, and it gives me a message in asian, presumably saying "Can't open the sound files". Then I have to save the file in starforge, then re-open it in Xtra, re-import the soundfiles and save it again.
but, you guessed it, since I had to switch again, I have to go through all the steps again, hoping that the sounds don't get messed up again. Thankfully the sound part only messes up every 4-5 times.
My wishlist item #1 would be an editor that actually works......ALL OF IT.
2 - Text trigger editor that actually works (if it wasn't included in the above miracle editor).
If I had the ability to just use the "Find/Replace" option that even notepad has, I would literally cut down my mapmaking time by HALF.
I've downloaded two seperate text trigger editors and one didn't work with Broodwar, and the other didn't work with player 12 triggers.....
Honestly, is there any sort of map that's multiplayer intended for Battle.net that doesn't need p12 triggers? Using that program would mean I would have to re-enter my p12 triggers every single time I use it.
3 - If nothing else, at least just a version of the crappy programs we have that has some USE!!
Starforge doesn't have help, undo, you can't choose an option to have the map revealers spread out 1 pixel, if you use the protection the minimap messes up, it crashes if you continuously open the same map (even after closing it first), it crashes if you use strings in your triggers.....BUT, it has so many good things about it that you just have to use it...
Xtra is like the best program in the world........ALMOST...... you know what I mean? Like if someone took a bit to add the benefits of Starforge, including 2 modes of trigger editing, square tiles, illegal unit placements, etc, etc, this would be the perfect editor...
But alas, this game from literally the last century, doesn't seem to have one single solid mapmaking program.
God I am so frustrated!
Can anyone help me with any tricks they know so that they don't have to go through this anguish with every single map?

Get SCMDraft. You will not need Xtra any longer. Mainly because SCMDraft owns it in every aspect.

And it has the classic trigedit plugin.
Starforge stills has its ups, but SCMDraft works better in most aspects.
Best of all, if you know how to write C++ you can make your own plugins.

Do you have the newest version of Xtra editor and StarForge? That might be one of your problems. I would also vote for SCM Draft over StarForge anyday. These are all found in the download database

well I have SF2.2 and Xtra 2.6 with whatever fix patch too....I'll check the DL section to see about scmdraft or newer versions...
Yes, but it is like kind of like more triggers, there's no coding and stuff you have to do. All you need is Uberation, but I heard that is really missing a lot of stuff that people who mod and program well can do. But I can never get used to Uberation's interface.

This is actually starforge's problem. Starforge absolutely sucks with sounds if you try to use a different editor after adding sounds. For instance, if you imported sounds in scmdraft2 and then used xtra editor, it would work fine.
