Isnt the zealot speed upgrade a one-time upgrade?(see map)
I'm sorry I don't play starcraft for now but the zealot upgrade is a one time thing. You can however make it there for a long time and you can still "upgrade" it but the zealot will not get any faster. I've seen it in the goliath defence maps where you upgrade the missile range but the only effective upgrade is once, it will never get so long that the missiles can shoot across the map.
yea..should onyl be a 1 time thing
Thats really bizzare, although it appears to have no practical purpose. Although the zealot's speed could indeed be upgraded infinite times, it never got higher after the first time, the zealot speed upgrade doesn't stack it seems. No clue how they did this though, its interesting. Possibly was done by using starforge and changing the max number of upgrades on leg enhancements.
it would be awesome if it could
You Would Have Marines Shoot Across The Map... And Dragoons... lol

it would get out of hand lol
Actually no you can't. Because a unit cannot shoot past its line of sight. A siege tank can shoot really far, but if it can't see it (like on a higher elevation terrain), then it won't shoot.
Also, if you think about it, even when you can see the entire map, does your units just start automatically running after the enemy units? No. Only when those enemies get within the range of sight. So, even if you could see your enemy all the way across the screen, and your unit can SHOOT that far, it still won't.
The unit would indeed shoot that far IF, and only IF you told it to attack yourself.
And that would be completely pointless...
A unit can shoot another thing if it is in it's attack range yet not in it's sight range. Take example, when you play snipers and someone is on the opposite side of a wall as you, neither of you can see each other, yet when your teammate walks to the other side of the wall to give you vision, if he dies, you have temporary vision in order to kill the oppenent sniper. So, if you COULD stack range upgrades, you could have like a wraith fly over an oppenents base and have 60 marines at your base, eventually completlying pwnning the other team.
Edit: Actually, if you had a tank in seige mode, and there was a little strip of fog of war between the tank and it's target, the tank can hit the target, right?
Yes but if you can click the unit, then it is not qualified as "in fog of war" but it is in direct site. And in response to allied vision, i wasn't using that in my example.
Well, actually, I think you could never really know wether a unit could attack a target if it is in the unit's attack range but not in it's sight range, because there is no unit that can shoot farther than it can see! At least, not any that I can recall.
siege tanks in siege mode actually can shoot JUST over their sight range
