It seems like changinf your name doesn't update all aspects of the board.
If you shout and then change your name and shout again, you will see the shouts of 2 different usernames but the same ID#.
If you change your name and it's your birthday, it won't update, it'll stay with the original name in which you first had when the birthday script was run for your account.
There are probably a whole lot of scripts that won't update to name changes.
The shouting statistics have never updated the name as well. The member group in the shoutbox statistics stay the same as well, almost everyone in the top 10 have white names even though most are regulars. It has probably been know before but since this topic is here I'll just add to it.
Well, it is rather difficult to globally replace every place your name appears. The person who changed their name has to live with it.
Not really...
Just make it so that the system runs on User ID's and it'll always update the name.
The difficult part is replacing all the name code with ID number code.
Exactly. And I'm not going through every line of code on the site.

Not to mention that it already was in effect, I remeber when I changed from Syphon8 to Syphon, and shouted. People thought we were two seperate entities.

The times the name doesn't get update is when sen is using some type of caching method. Instead of running a query every forum index load, it gets the birthdays at some time during the day and places it in a table designed to mimic the query was taken place.
So while linking names to id's is the best method, sometimes it's just impractical.

I used to have an avatar of the chick in FFXII. Under it, for my title, I had ^-- My Girlfriend --^. Yoshi deleted it because I directly linked it from a senv5 directory... once he passworded the directory, the image would ask for the password. I was too lazy to restore it.
