I thought of this one night while playing a bound, and realized that when the bound's explosion effects spawn and then die, if you look on the minimap and see, sor a slight second you can see the colour of the unit being there.

So here is what i think. Some one could make a short cartoon , that can be watched on the minimap with the same technology most bounds use.

Although i dono who would want to, it would still be cool tongue.gif

I saw it in a map where they had a mario move across the minimap. I wouldn't say bounds used any technology really. tongue.gif

It is possible but you are talking about moving every unit or whatever your using to a new location about every 1/2 second to make the animation all come together. It would be simple if you used death counters on a unit and can make the certain images apear when a death counter number is met. It is quite simple really but it would be really time consuming.

It would be pretty hard and time consuming to make it look really good and the drawings with the units would mostlikely just look like censored.gif

Didn't Bolt Head make that map and then he didn't want to release it for fear of starting another "bound craze"?

hmm...this gives me an idea to make an "Animation Maker" map like the drawing map
where people make the animation by placing points to make a figure or image and making many frames O.O shouldnt be too hard
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Doodle77(MM) on 2005-11-28 at 19:29:11
Well, thats a similar idea to Bounds, by rantent, which is the best bound map out there because you can acutally make new ones.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Insane.oO on 2005-11-28 at 20:17:59
Yeah id have to agree bounds is the best bound map out there to date it is an awsome map with hours into it
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Joshgt2 on 2005-11-29 at 00:02:58
Is that the one where you can make your own bound? I think Dragon Bound by Red2Blue is also good. I love that guys maps.

The problem is the minimap's refresh rate is pretty crappy.

it would be cool for like whenever ur unit died or successfully completed an ob or something, like a mini animation of mario dieing or something...

O yeah I didnt even think of that it would never work it would only show like occasional spots of it

(U)Bolt_Head's Mario animation was going at about 2~3 frames per second in the minimap. The animation looked more like pictures than an actual animation.

To make it won't take that many triggers actually. You would need to know how a grid system works and give units to different players for color effect.

I figured that out the hard way. And it was Bolt_Head that made that map!

Modified post : My friend (Laurent14 aka Launcher(U)) started a small project a while back, the idea was to create a program that could compile a series of images, or possibly a video file into 'animation triggers' I remember we tested it various times with people from the (U) and Sen channel. It worked but the animation wasn't of a high quality, but it made quick humerous animations effortlessly.

Ooooooh. I Would Like That Program!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Insane.oO on 2005-12-03 at 19:19:38
I think an animation game would be ok but it would be kinda boring if its just moving along it would have to be like a movie put into the sc game on like a 256x256 map possibally bigger if possible

Heres an idea, using sc picture mapper, forge or other sc programs, and flash, you could create a frame by frame motion piture, copy it, paste it on paint, and use it on picture mapper. then, using 2 or more colours from players, you could make a picture out of stationary units, remove them really quickly, then add the next frame/picture in the sequence to make it look like its moving. I've been thinking about this for awhile now..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Devil_O_Duce on 2005-12-05 at 22:51:38
err...or u could make a pictire mapper thing like 50 different pictures of something moving a bit and for each 1 put 1 trigger

Condition

*Always

Action

*Start Scenario X-1 or like X-2 or X-3 or X-4 o you get the idea
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Insane.oO on 2005-12-07 at 13:08:55
So the map would look like this for the pictures thing

X= Seperate pictures

So really its just centering on locations to look like its moving?

Yay so you mean instead of wasting 50k of garbage we can multiply it per # of poop-frames!!! omg when did you have this revelation!

Didn't anybody pay attention to the fps of the minimap (besides bolt)? Only way you could make an animation is by mysteriously hyper triggering the minimap. So unless you're God and you do manage to hyper trigger a minimap, then animation seems rather pointless. Besides, this isn't going to really revolutionize any map. Probably the most a person will say is,"Wow, that's awesome," then continue to play the map.

Meh I can hyper trigger a minimap err i think

It would take wat to long and it would be way to big.
