I tend to keep my avatars forever it seems, but when I do i've had this problem twice:
Back when I switched from the Darkacrhon picture to my nice deathsythe one, it said it was changed, but didn't change until about later, surprising me like waking up to a whitewash.
Now, i've tried to steal an avatar from someone, and it still hasn't changed.
I think i heard moose say something about it, but whatever meh...

Changes in mySQL seem to take longer than expected. It's been happening since a long time ago and your avatar will change when it's time comes.
Chances that it takes long is because the site is so massive, the server might not have enough bandwith to proccess everything at once, so it prioritizes it or that the code is faulty.

Just remove avatar and ive noticed that using an offsite one like uploading it onto a picture site or something works better than uploading off computer
