I have looked and tried out many colors on the color list(1-200sh). Although many of them are neat colors in the editor they dont really look good in the game, another problem is that the unit color looks good but the mini map color is wayy off. My map is a lotr one and people need to see how many people they have (leader board) so here are the ones I have so far, and im really not interested in using basic colors other than green. disgust.gif

Eregion- Dwarves
Gondor-Humans (89)
Arnor-Humans (66)
Lindon-Sea'sh Elves
Lorien-Wood Elves
Angmar-MountainOrcs (60)
Khand-Desert Humans/Orcs (44)
Mordor-Orcs

Any help appreciated. biggrin.gif

Best bet is the basics. (Red Blue... Green, Tan...) The other ones are just weird. They're not always the same, either.

There are some blacks and tans and shineys and browns and the inbetweens too that work too.

Its all dependant on the tileset.

Almost everything past 150 is really a horrible choice.

i think 22 is a nice white i have it on one of my maps you can also use the neutral color that light blue

I wouldn't say that all of the colors past 17 are bad but it is very time consuming just to see which color is which for each tileset. I know for the Jungle type that number 89 or something like that will turn out as a normal blue but yet it will be flashing blue on the minimap.

Try 44/45, 63, 84, and 101. Those looked to me like they were similar to their minimap color.

89 is an awfully cool color though tongue.gif

Also; what tileset is this on? Colors do vary per tileset, and it would be easier if we knew what tileset it was all for.

Its on jungle.

And color 89 is like an olive color on mini map and a neon green for units looks pretty cool.

Jungle ehhh... You want the same colors for the units as on the mini map though right... I can't think of anything that would be cool but the color 130 or 139 looks really nice on the Jungle tileset. Now it will not be the same colors for the units as on the mini map or the leader board...

I would just check the turorials section in mapping then player colors for diff colors

That really doesnt make anysense.

And ive also discovered some very new colors from the ones that are 'dependent on tileset'.

To be honest tricked out colors never "enhance" the gameplay for me. In fact on maps that go to much into detail with the colors (for instance, joshgt2's maze d 8.8... lol sorry josh) I end up pushing alt+tab to change the colors so I can see better. As rabbit said, its best just to stick with the normal colors.

heh, man just check tutorials under mapping, then click view all then look for player colors or something like it, you should find a bunch of numbers listed 1-255, which means the player number and there colors. but he only tested it on a certain terrain tile set. be careful if u use flags, because some of them crash sc if clicked on...and if u mean wireframe colors then do like 2/1, 3/1, 3/2, 4/1, 4/2, 4/3, 5/1, 5/2, 5/3, 5/4, 6/1 etc....but some colors are the same, and some of them glow diff on the diff tile sets, so test if you want, space is blue i think...
