It seems that every time I try going to a download from the newest uploads box on the front page, the downloads dont seem to work. They give me the antileech page even though I am coming from the front page of sen.

For example, I tried going to the map spotlight maps such as this one http://staredit.net/?download=4502

and when I try to download it gives me this :

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

You have accessed this file from a link not on this site. Anti-leech is in effect. If you wish to link to our files, we don't mind you just linking to the page. However linking JUST to the download link is something we dont allow

So i tried going to your site from the http://www.staredit.net rather than http://staredit.net and the links worked. Whats up with that?

I have no idea, I think that this has to do with the URL coding that the download uses. For an example, you can't type http://www.sen.com/

I think that the coding saves it with the www. than without it.

I think it has to do with the anti-leeching, like maybe the download script thinks staredit.net is a different site than www.staredit.net? crazy.gif

I always heard that when going to a site that has .net or anything else other than the .com that you need to put in the www. I don't know why but sometimes people encounter problems with the site if you don't put in the www. for a .net or whatever else. I am not saying this is the reason but I always would put the www. for the .net websites.

A .htaccess file or other equivalent thing allows connections from "www.staredit.net" only. staredit.net is not the same thing, therefore it will give you the error.

It is to prevent mass leeching of the files, mainly the DLDB, via an automatic manner, such as a bot.

could you add just plain old staredit.net to the list so i can download without typing in www?

Stop being lazy or get Firefox and just type in "staredit" and press shift+enter.

Um, i was on firefox, and IE has the equivalent of that. Ctrl + Enter.
Seriously, how hard would it be to just add staredit.net once to the htaccess rather than me doing every single time?

Adding it to the htaccess is much difficult than you writting 4 characters. We also do it for safety issues, almost all ineternet bots don't use www.
