Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Unit Shadows, but no unit?

How come i've seen a couple maps where it has like, an Enginerring bay in the air, but its not there....the shadow is....? I've seen with with comand centers Battle cruiser, and other stuff? How you do this, i have no idea. Someone tell me plz?

I have never seen this before. This might be one of the units on the list that was disabled and the unit is completly gone but the shadow is still there.

Yes, disabling it and bringing a detector there cloaks the unit but leaves the shadow.

Indeed, You Disable an engineering bay(in transit) so it produces shadow like its flying but since its disabled it will look like its cloaked so you actually wont see it biggrin.gif just the shadow can also be done with barracks and other buildsings that fly for more information about disabling units and their effect, check the list in my signature

what happens if the building isnt in transit? does it still leave a shadow when cloaked?

I would think that the same thing but you would not have much of a shadow over a building that is not in transit

You Mean on some bounds like the engeneer bay is flying but it only shows the shadow on the ground?

If So this is what u do-(you need starforge or any other editer besides campaign) put a engeneer bay in transit mode then put a location around it, then you go to triggers - always, set doodad state(1,engeneer bay,disable,*location*);

and thats it, simple aint it

lol, and my guess of "what happens if its not in transit" its you wont get a shadow lets test in five minutes wink.gif

Even if you do get a shadow, the shadow will be considerably smaller (as joshgt2 said) becuase the sprite has much of the shadow being blocked by actual building. So you would only see a partial shadow if anything.

Thank god i like testing a lot biggrin.gif i really like to waste time in things that are not relevant, but you learn stuff, you should try sometimes to test thing for yourselves too thats for everyone biggrin.gif

ADDITION:
lol minigame want me to do it or will you do it?
that will be like changing the concept of list to disabled, cloaking + effects you can get with set doodad state biggrin.gif hey that's a pretty good idea biggrin.gif lets get it to work try to catch me in op sen or ill go to your channel so we can get to something if you want

the action "set doodad state" does not cloaks all the stacked ebay you will have to use another trigger to give them to another player and then disabled them the give them to another player when the process id done you can give them to the first player
