I was getting the Spinning Dt meathod to work and when I went to play the map using broodwar it says "This map is intended for an expansion" can someone see if it works or not please

I don't know your problem then. There are only 3 versions of StarCraft maps...
I have no clue what the problem is.
- StarCraft: Original
- StarCraft: Hybrid (This is something odd...)
- StarCraft: Brood War (expansion)

blaze is right. Sometimes I accidentally mess up my map (unsupported terrain or other problem) and usually the game says "Invalid scenario file" when I try to play it, but sometimes it will say that you need brood war even when you are playing brood war. Basically the file is corrupted and there is nothing you can do.

O well the Map is cooler like this because Ive never seen that error before and it wasnt a real map anyways

can you really not open it? because i tried with vanilla staredit and yeah i couldn't but i could with sf i could, yeah its odd because it says created for expansion pack....i have no idea wanna hear something really really weird, since i opened it i checked terrain everything seems right a lot of nulls, and some snow lines nothing that could corrupt a map, i checked at the triggers it had none(does it really has no triggers?) then i check the map properties and it had none?
i was like how come? because in the screen it displays a name so i changed them to "corbo" both name and description then checked the strings and it had none i was like doesn't there have to be something in there like "corbo"...twice 
then repeated the process 30 times and i got nothingADITTION:
i didn't really do it 30 times, i did it 31 times it was 30+ the first one that i didnt count
ADDITION:
tried to save as diferent name and with some customizations and it said the same thing, might try later to extract the .chk, but later

The map was 12x12
I switched it to 12x64 and the snowlines came and the map altered

Yep, as I said, "unsupported terrain". I wonder why map editors let you choose those numbers when starcraft doesn't support it.
However, I did see somewhere, someone was distrbiting an invalid terrain file and he said to play another map before playing this. Does that work?

You don't becuase other people have gotten that problem as well. Its the map file not the starcraft program.

they have been having problems with using extra editer then using starforge together on using a map multiple times so i still think its a bugged map, plus they said there making starforge to so it goes bothways i guess...............................

yeah misteriously when you press accept all the triggers/string/map descriptions saved as "corbo"/ forces settings/player settings go to default, where default is nothing

just restart then theres no way you can save anything from this map
