Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Start Locations in game
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Diggidoyo on 2005-12-05 at 15:55:23
I've seen some maps where the start locations are able to be seen in the actual game. Does anybody know how to this? Does it have to do with enabling the doodad state for the start location becuase I'm not sure if that's possible.

Just place a Start Location sprite.

And where would this start location sprite be located?

If you look in somthing like SCM Draft you will see a colom on the left that says sprites. There you can get any unit but it will not be playable at all and it wil just... sit there... Same thing goes for the start location.

Probably has been answered sometime in the forum but the tutorials just list uses for it.

Does anyone have an actual definition as to what sprites are? I think they are one thing like spells but then someone else says that they are doodads or w/e. Maybe its a general term but for what?

If you want to use starforge instead of SCMDraft to place the sprites, you simply go up to the layer drop down box (unit layer, terrain layer, etc..) and just hit Sprites Layer.

EDIT: saw your post after I posted. Sprites are pretty much just images in the game, which you can actually place in the map.

Sprites can not be put down on the map by any trigger. I will answer that now just incase you might ask it.

yep its just a sprite but some of them you have to put a start location then put disable on it, then u can click on it and it will say "our forces are under attack" its pretty dumb, but w/e
