To go along with my new campaign, "The Saga of Doodan", I've made a few promotial doodle-thingies to help "advertise." I'm releasing one drawing a week at starcraft.org, but since I can't submit artwork to this site, I will just upload one drawing a week here. If anyone knows of a way to submit all 7 of them (each between 1 and 1.5 MB apiece), then please tell me, cuz I'd like for you guys to see them all now instead of gradually (cuz I wub u guys ).

For now though, here's the first one. This is Doodan, the main character from the campaign that I named my SEN account after (it's not supposed to be me lol).

I used the Tassadar High Templar model for the game, but since this isn't supposed to be Tassadar, I made the designs on paper look a little different. I'll switch this one out for the next one in a week or so, or unless someone knows a way I can get them all on here at once (I don't have enough global space for them all).

So, tell me what you think!

This may sound cold, but that doesn't look like a really good main character, but nice to see that it isn't human for once. It's probably just the picture itself, but I think the hand seems slightly deformed. Also, I don't like the chest, it seems almost bloated. Fix those and I may think otherwise.

Heheh. About the main character thing, he works. He's a cranky, bitter, jerk who's slower than everyone else. The pic is a little misleading about his personality, but I posted this one first cuz it has the most draw to it (at least I think).

His hand: I didn't use any hand models (trying to ween myself). I just drew a regular hand in a "Super power" pose, elongated the fingers and removed the ring finger.

His chest: He has on thick armor, but by bloated do you mean too muscular or dead body bloated?

More like a balloon bloated. Last thing: Try to make the muscles of the arms more similar, I can't tell if it's a part of the whole perspective thing. I suggest getting measurements of everthing so that your picture is more proportional. Still a neat pic though. I notice the somewhat "DBZ" style.

It's supposed to be perspective, but I'll be the first to admit my shortcomings as an artist. I know its DBZ style, but like I said, it was to help excite the 12/13 year olds, heheh. I like the next pic better, it's much more indicative of the character's personality. I'll post it next week. Stay tuned...

nice but arnt protoss suppose to be scrawny looking?(he is a protoss right..?) anyway very nice drawing... i see a similarity between him and cell (the mouth part)

Yah, he's Protoss. But I shall use the defense of "It's not supposed to be Tassadar." Infact, the storyline has nothing to do with Blizzard's! Besides, the character Doodan is a little unhealthy (he smokes and drinks alot).

uh.... just a question.... do protoss have mouths to drink and smoke? because ive never seen a mouth on them or is it some wierd injection thingy...

Well, show us another picture of the same character? We could probably give more advice.

In this one (which I call "Dead Soldiers"), he and his good friend Buddy Knee (Jim Raynor marine) are drowning their sorrows. Doodan acts alot more like the picture suggests.

This picture is much better, in my opinion anyways. The body is more proportional and there is much more personality. Though, this does add extra to criticize about (not much though). First off, you marine's face is hideous, it's just way too plain. And the other part that bugs me are the glasses. Yes, I understand that they're more than likely shot glasses, but that doesn't seem to fit the personality or the mood. We generally take shots for entertainment, not depression, for depression, we take the mug and fill it completely.

He is one ugly S.O.B. isn't he? lol. I think Doodan even tells him that at some point in the story. But yeah, he is very plain... for lack of me caring to put more effort into his face

Most of the errors you see are due to laziness (that applies for all the pics I will post).

And as far as the drinking goes... I don't drink. I've only been drunk once and that was almost five years ago. I'm really going on what I see in movies and TV. Seeing a hero character with his head down on a bar evokes a certain feeling, and that's what I was really shooting for. In a movie I might see the main character sit down at the bar and say "Give me the strongest stuff ya got." Those sort of inaccuracies you'll just have to excuse, because I really have gone out of my way to not know that sort of stuff in life.

There's only one problem with your scrawls of Doodan. Being a protoss he should have 2 thumbs on either side of his hand, he doesn't. In the second picture at least.

Heheheh. I know, Syphon. I just thought he looked better with more humanoid hands. Most protoss drawings I see have 2 fingers instead of three, but oh well. I didn't want to copy the Tassadar design precisely. Or any of the designs, for that matter.

actually yours looks like cell... protoss look nothing like cell. anyway yeah your really good at drawing..... POST MORE DAMNIT! (gets publishing ready)...

In the first pic, his hand in the foreground has two fingers and two thumbs, but in the background, his hand has four fingers and one thumb.

The "thumb" on the right side of the foreground hand is a pinky finger, heheheh. And if you look carefully, you'll only see three fingers on his other hand.

Nice pictures Doodad, like see a battle scene =)> Doodad fighting a enemy in bloody battle, with background landscaping lol. Well seems like your campaign gonna own gl with it.
