If I mind controled a computer marine which had 2 infantry attack upgraded while I had 3 infantry attack upgarded, then gave the unit back by trigger or being re-mind controlled, would that unit's attack be at 2 or 3?

Mind controlling a unit gives that player the top most technologies that the opposing player has upgraded (not upgrades like weapons and armor). This is only achieved by mind controlling. Through triggers, there is no current way to give units upgrades (sniffle* eud).

So, this "technology leeching" from a mind control only affects the mindcontrol'ee, so the computer player is unaffected by any changes.

In short:

The computer player will still have 2 upgrades because it cannot "leech" upgrades.

EDIT:
Corrections.

You can give upgrades though, if you have a player that does have those upgrades. Em i rite? Then you just create a unit for that player and give it to whoever you want.

I think that doing those things only works for technologies, but not upgrades.

Yea, you are corrent sir. However technologies can be upgraded beyond 1. Thus you get the topmost upgrade.

Ok I'm glad, because I don't want to make an RPG, have 50 infantry attack upgraded, then mind control and when the unit is given back, it attacks at +50 infantry attack...

I was thinking it as "Player one only has so good of weapons for the guy to hold, so even if the marine held a +50 weapon when he was under player 2's control, he only has the guns player one gives him" and yeah... biggrin.gif

dam thats a good idea for a melee tactic.. leeching reaver ups..

but reaver ups are technology anyway so.

Red2blue, i might of misread you, but i think you said some technologies can be upgraded beyond 1?? thats not true.. which technology?

They can all be upgraded past 1 I think, but they don't have any effect past 1.

They can indeed all upgrade beyond 1, but they only have the effect of one. Further upgrade is just a waste of minerals. But the reaver part I didn't know. I DID notice that in my extra edit it was 0-255, however. With guedit or other editors I know you can set stuff like stimpack to 255, but again, it can only count as 1 upgrade.

Maybe someday we will find a use for upgrading technologies past 1.

Rofl, level 255 for marine range or ghost range, shoot people you see at 20 grid squares away.
