Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> GIVE ME MY BRIEFINGS!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2005-12-12 at 14:45:03
So, when are these two coming out for Draft? I really need them in Draft as it's the only editor I can use.

X-tra deletes all my sprites and extended unit names and other stuff.

SF is just gay and screws my maps, so I won't even try to use it again...

It is located in the trig edit thing, right above Classic trig edit. I am stil trying to get it to work as well... It seems that is doesn't like me...

I know that, but what I have to do next?

Go to the switched tab. There is has all of your renamed switches. Just type another one in and there you go. It should work...

I am sure that I am doing something wrong but instead of renaming 1 switch it renamed all switches with random strings.

Yeah, it seems buggy as I mentioned before somewhere. First, it won't put in default switches that you're using (switch0, etc.) Then, switch0 is switch1, and switch1 is switch2, etc. going from the trigger editor (switch0) to the classic trigger editor (switch1). Finally, there is no distinction between changing the switch name and swapping switches:

*changing the name in the switch list requires you to change it in the trigger code also before compiling.
*swapping switches in the switch list (for instance switch3 in location 4 swapped with switch5 in location 5) does nothing.

Also:
*It doesn't account for switches with the same name..
*You need a line break at the last switch of the switch list for the compilation to work.

Ok, screw the switch names, I'll use my notebook.

But can someone please make the briefing plug-in? I remember SI say that classic trigedit took like 5 minutes to make it tongue.gif

It's just lame that I have to make briefings before making the map itself pinch.gif

Correction: Classic TrigEdit took SI like 5 minutes to make it tongue.gif.

For people not as versed in the SCMD2 plugin interface/C++ as SI, it would take a few months at best.

Breifings are easy with SC X-tra editor. The tip I always give is try different editors if you're not happy with the one you have. Different editors have different strong points.

If you are so smart to give around tips here, you should understand that SCXE haven't got many advanced features such as extended terrain and sprites. So I don't want to use it because I need those features.

Why I just don't make my briefings on SCXE? Because I can't actually make whole briefings before I make the map. And I won't open my map in SCEX later because it will delete sprites and do many more bad stuff to my map. See the first post.

Use ubeR@TiOn to export the sprites and units. Then edit the briefing with SCXE. Then import the sprites and units back into your map. Alternatively, you can continue to work on your map and ignore the briefing until SI finishes the briefing editor.

I do not know what extended unit names are, but you could try using STarForge's ability to save Unit and Hero Settings and see if that will retain the names for you, then import them back into the back.

naturally, you should do these things with back-up copies of the map incase it gets messed up or does not work the way you intend.

I will wait for SI rather that open any of my maps on SF. Let's say I once lost like 2 hours of my work because of SF pinch.gif

I belive if you lready have an MB partilaly made then MB editor will work. In your map you have one or more MB Triggers MB editor will work

make 2 copys of your map and try SF on one of them. You have nothing to lose.
