Hey, just a question about the GIMP/PS. How do you make a semitransparent border inside an image (like about 20 px away from the boundary)?

In the Gimp, I'd use the rectangle tool (one rectangle for each side) and then use use the eraser with an opacity lower than 100 and erase the layer. Example:

yeah you can use rectange tools and such like pie said or you can copy that layer and delete the outer edges and set the layer in the back to opacity whatevers...

You meant like cut a part of a picture and copy/cut it, then paste it or save it or do whatever after?
Then try to find something that said "crop" and it will have the rectangle thing then click apply, or copy...I don't know how to explain it good.

Try this.

New Layer, Select the whole picture.

Stroke, inside (say 10 px, black maybe. 100%opacity.)

Use Magic Wand and select the stroke

Delete the layer that the black was on.

Fill Selection (magic wand) with 50% opacity.

Thats fast and Perfect
