Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> AI Trigger problem

Hi, guys. Don't think you remember me but anyway, I'm back to mapmaking.

However, I've still got a BIG doubt. BTW, I hope I'm posting in the correct section. blushing.gif

Well, this is what happens: I want the computer to act strongly and with a high AI. However, Blizzard's triggers seem somehow unable to fit my desires: X Campaign Difficult is not difficult enough for my maps and X Campaign Insane is too difficult for what I want. (Besides, I don't know why, if I select Insane AI the computer starts building without stop, even if it's got two or three buildings repeated closedeyes.gif )

When I got SCXE I was happy to know loads of new AIs have been added. Despite this fact, I haven't found much use for them. sad.gif The reason for this is that the information given in each of them (eg High Defense / Medium Offense) doesn't clarify me much and I find myself having to test each one of them before I find the one that fits my necessities (if I find one pinch.gif )

So, what I want to ask you is if you have a better-detailed information of each of the SCXE AI scripts, and if you have, please share it with me. In case you don't (which I think is the most probable answer) I'd like you to recommend me whatever you think can solve my problem. helpsmilie.gif

Also, if you don't mind, why do Insane AI Scripts make the computer go crazy and start building buildings frenetically? It makes my maps much longer to solve and I dislike the idea of disactivating buildings for the computer, as if I do so, they can't expand themselves nor rebuild a base.

Thank you very much! happy.gif

See ya! wink.gif

All I know about the Insane AI is that it seems to be designed to overwhelm the opponent as quickly as possible. It will take all the expansions in the map, even though they don't need the money (They seem to be engineered to have extra money in the first place). I don't know much about the other AI scripts you talked about for SCXE, sorry. A couple of ways you can water down the Insane AI is to have it start with a small number of buildings (maybe one of each factory) and maybe trigger it so that if it gets past 2,000 minerals/gas, then it loses 1,000 of it.

Now that you mention the resource thing, I have a trigger that sets the Computer's resources to 5000 if it goes lower than 500 - could that highly influence on the computer's behaviour? (I'm almost sure it does...)

What really makes me go mad is that they tend to 'stack' their buildings in their own base if they don't have much space, so you can end up destroying eight spirals or so when I gave them two. However, in other maps such as the Enslavers ones the computer doesn't tend to do that, that's why I asked.

You have to give the comps plenty of clear paths. Sometimes they go DUURRR if they have to build on small platforms or in narrow passages. Always give your comp plenty of space.

Thanks for your aid, Doodan, but guys, my main problem is not solved yet! Does really nobody know anything about the SCXE AI Scripts?
