I figured I'd rant here and see what the people of SEN have to say.
I watched watching the Blue Lagoon (1980) yesterday, which in my opinion is one of the greatest movies ever filmed because it shows natural love and the bond humans, untainted by the world (almost) have for each other. As it neared the end and the climax was gone, I began to get depressed because it was ending. This happens everytime to me. When I went to europe in april, no parents, just 30 students and 3 teachers, I had the time of my life. But as we ented Toms River (where I live) on the bus I got depressed knowing this was it, its over. When I first saw the first LotR movie, I was amazed at the fantasy setting and read every book tolkien ever wrote (also his son's). Everytime I saw one of the trilogy movies, I would just wait until the next, but when I saw the last one, I got depressed knowing theres no more to look forward to.. it ended. I just finished watching White Squall (1996) and after the ship sank, the time of their lives had ended... it was over. I have come to realize this is the one thing I dread the most in life. Not death, not germs, terrorists, war, but when it ends. When you come down from your high (no, I don't do drugs).
ADDITION:
Time, it gets us all.... watching Blue Lagoon, I realized just how beautiful brooke shields was, even at 14... and then realized this was over 20 years ago. I was looking at a 20 year ago version of her, which I wished was still around today. The other day my girlfriend made me watch the Notebook, which I would say was a good movie and I realized that the sad part wasn't that they loved each other and she couldn't remember and all, but that they were young once, and their life is over. I hate time, why won't it stop....
Can anyone here relate to this?
Yeah, that's the way I measure a truely good book/movie/whatever. When it leaves me desperate for more, I know its good.
I don't really fear it, because there's always something new.
EDIT: Time gets you in the end. Don't waste time worrying about it or you'll have more to regret.
I don't understand this thread.
When an end comes (Whether it be a book, movie, or possibly a relationship) he gets depressed that there is no more for him to devour.
I'll put it simply. Say you have someone close to you whom you have had so many happy times with. Say you used to hang with that person every day, tell them everything, basicly grew up with them. Now lets say that person dies. Those times are gone, and they are never coming back. You look back and remember them but get depressed cuz its over.
Well since I have a horrible memory, I don't remember the happiness at all. I have absolutely no idea what I like.

so... you get depressed when theres no good movies out?
I got depressed during King Kong (2005) when the main characters were all about to be (or being) eaten by the gaint bugs in the canyon and I thought it was all over for them... I know what you mean euro, I totally agree with you.

nope, i get depressed when it ends. A good book is awesome during the climax then as it cools down and the people go back to normal (in the book) it gets me sad, because I want it to keep going.
It is so true... I think it happens to everyone. I feel really bad after watching a great movie. Like King Kong, for example, makes somewhat "unsatisfied."
I get depressed at the begginings of bad movies.
Only one time I got depressed at the end of the movies where StarWars episode III, just seemed like a a sad end to 30 years of movie making glory.
syphon when you saw SW III, did you wish there was going to be another movie? More to the story? If so, thats what i'm trying to say with this whole thread. Just.... one.... more... syndrom.
