I know you must've gotten this question a million times, but I'm trying to put minerals close to the starting location, like in that "Fastest Map Ever" thingy that's going around. If the minerals are above the starting point i'm fine, to the side i think is fine too but if I try to put them below the base the workers always end up walking a little ways. I have the grid set to 16, and if I move it up one space, it disappears...

Also the vespene geysers are offset from where they display in the game to where you actually have to build the extractor. In other words you see the graphic for the geyser, but you have to shift the build overlay to one side or up to get the extractor to build...

I'm sure there's something stupid that i'm overlooking, so please make me feel like a complete idiot and show me what i'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

You can select the minerals and move them one pixel at a time with the arrow keys. The vespene geyser thing is just a result of putting geysers in places where they're not normally supposed to be. You can try moving them around a bit to see if it helps, but there's no surefire way to do that.

I had that problems too, but I had figured it out by myself.

Hard To Explain.

You have to know how close they need to be and the right pixels to put on, like odd and even.Try to open some fastest possible map, and take a look at them.

Well, Are you using X-Tra or any other special unit placer? If not, You obiously would be having some problems.

Well I think its best to take the grid snap off for this. he he. But i like to use starcraft X-tra editor, then you wont have the close minerals problems.

Um... if you're using grid snap to place a unit that has a width that is odd, then you need to set XOffset on the grid to 16. If you're using gridsnap to place a unit that has a height that is odd, then you need to set YOffset on the grid to 16. Hope this helps =)

For example: To place a mineral patch correctly, you need to use:
Width: 32
Height: 32
XOffset: 0
YOffset: 16

I just use
Width: 16
Height: 16
XOffset: 0
YOffset: 0

But you have to be careful that it is in the right spot
