Staredit Network -> Concepts -> A non-pickable power-up
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2005-12-25 at 06:34:29
I am not sure has anyone fond this before. But I fond a way how to make any power-up in the game or all of them non-pickable so you can move to a power-up with SCV and it will stay.

Ok, for some weird reason power-up becomes non-pickable when you run AI script "junk yard dog" on it. The power-up must be computer owned so the AI runs.

I believe test map isn't needed as this is very easy to make wink.gif

You can do this by disabling it too. On the list, scroll down untill you find the powerups section. http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=279 I'm pretty sure I've read it somewhere. Nice alternative method though.

This is very cool..., I'm sure to remember that when I'm trying to make a map..

Just disable it and save precious locations and triggers biggrin.gif

Disabling the object might also cause that stupid rock sprite to come up in the game as well... I would just do the junk yard dog...

Disabling cloaks it doesn't it? It at least cloaks power ups like the mineral chunks and gas things, I don't know about the crystals, but I think it cloaks them too. So if you wanted a visible more stable one I think his method would be better. I didn't know about this, nice find.

Besides they stay clickable. Disabled doesn't. So you can use them for names and stuff.

Powerups placed as unit sprites cannot be picked up either, this is definitly the easiest way if you only need them in limited numbers.

Well, I didn't say that it's something big. I just wanted to post it because when it happened I was like WTF why I can't pick that stupid flag pinch.gif

DEAD's method is best for the casual mapmaker. All you need to do is download a tiny, tiny trigger file that has some of the simpler un-usable triggers in it and load it into StarEdit. No need for Xtra Editor, Starforge, or SCMDraft. But without extra editors, you can't rename them...

There is nothing ever too simple for a test map.
