There is one thing left for me to do before I submit my campaign. After months of waiting, I just want it to be over with! But nothing's ever easy, is it? If someone can give me a usable solution to this problem, I will be eternally grateful. I will give you all my minerals and give you a "Special Thanks" credit at the end of my campaign. I've spent the last several hours trying to solve this problem with no luck.
Anyways, here's the story: I want the enemy computers in most of the missions to be BLACK. Also, I want one of the allied comps to be green (like green on the ice tileset) on all tilesets. I tried using Starforge, but for some reason it made the sound files larger. Larger to the degree that it's no longer practical. I'd have to break the campaign into 6 or 7 pieces in order to submit the whole thing, SUCKAGE! Also, the sounds disappear in the backup copies, and it's understandable why that's not useful either.
So, I stumbled across guedit. I know it's outdated, but it was PERFECT for what I wanted. So for the beta testers, I went ahead and altered the player colors and gave them copies to test. So now, the testing is over. I cleaned up the errors they reported in the master copy of the campaign, and now I'm trying to fix the player colors for it. I open guedit and load a map. I change the colors to what I want. I go to overwrite the old, uncolored file and it gives me a prompt telling me it can't overwrite the original. "Oh yeah," I said "I forgot." I'd encountered this last time, so no biggie. So I change the name of the original file and try to save the new version with the old name. But the same prompt appears. So I change the original back to it's old name and change the new copy's name and hit "Save." It then gives me a prompt that says "Error in saving."
...And now, I can't open ANY maps with guedit. Nothing, Nadda, Ziltch. When I try to open it, the standard error window appears and says "Mo'PaQ 2000, the official client of the MPQ Library, has encountered an error and needs to close." So I google both Mo'PaQ and MPQ Library to find out more about them, but since I'm not that computer literate, none of what I find makes much sense. I ran every anti spyware, anti virus scan. I defragged my computer. I uninstalled and reinstalled Starcraft. I've tried everything I know how to do, but I can't open the maps with guedit!!!
So, this is what I'm looking for: A way to fix guedit so I can change the player colors with it. ORRR, a way to alter the colors in Starforge without affecting the size of the sound files. I don't know much about Starforge, so please don't try to confuse me. ORRR, some other program that will let me change the player colors to what I want. The only special color I want is black. Every other color change will involve the normal colors. PLEASE HELP!
