So, here's my plan. Voy can elaborate.
Data Modders need to write an mpq for the Ion Cannon/Ionic Research Facility. Independently produce MPQs, post them here, and mix and choose the best.
DoA: You're going to write the Mempatch for the spells and research involved, specifically, the research prerequisite of the Ion Cannon and its attack spell. I know you're busy with FireGraft, but bob can't do everything.
revolver_devalle: You're writing the TBL files for the Ionic Research Facility. The Data Modders should tell you what unit it replaces and all that other fun stuff.
Graphics: This will be subdivided:
Kenoli: You will model and skin the Ion Cannon, as I have seen your Sir Kibble and I know you are capable of this.
Corbo, Cnl.Fatso, PCFredZ: You will be doing buttons and projectiles, as you don't seem to have much 3D knowledge.
Pauper: You will model and skin the Ionic Research facility. Remeber that it is an addon for the Science Facility.
m.r.bob: You will write the Iscript for the Ion Cannon and Ionic Research facility. You will tell Kenoli and Pauper what frames you need, etc.
Beta Testers: Finally, you will test the finished product for bugs. Balance testing cannot be done until the entire mod is finished.
In other words, the work model goes something like this:

Yeah, those look good. I'll have a memgraft patch (I'll write it as a Stargraft patch file so we can edit it) done soon. The only thing I don't follow is how the attack is going to be done, for the patch. So, here's what I'm guessing on, tell me if anything isn't right.
We still need a weapon ID, plus a tech ID. Whatever tech the data modders choose, tell me. I suggest using the first unused one(I think it is tech number 26).
To the table writer, just add the following strings to the end of the tbl(in this order) then send it to me:
Ion cannon requirement string
Ionic Discharge requirement
IRF requirement string
Ionic Discharge research string
Ionic discharge research requirement string
To the graphics team, as soon as you get all of Icons done and compiled, get it to me.
To bob, when you Iscript the attack, use the Sp Ability 2 animation, don't put in a cast spell command, and make sure to have the sigorder command. I'll have it call this animation through a spell, so it will never(no offense data modders, I just don't trust removing all the attack stuff, I'd rather do this way since I know it doesn't ever attack when it is supposed to, plus some of the fact that it is a spell tells me that this would lessen the possibility of there being a conflict with the code.)
Once I get the tbl and the icon grp file, I'll have the patch done that day.

Uhh, tech tree clarification: the spell is going to be the cannon's default attack, you shouldn't have to research to enable it.
The IRF requires this: Requires: Science Facility with attached Physics Lab, Engineering Bay

I believe the plan was the spell calls an attack25(), but I may be mistaken. Don't all damage spells have a weapons.dat entry?
Okay. Yes, they do. We need the weapon done. Here's, in the simpilist terms, how it works.
1. player pushes the attack button
2. That calls Iscript animation SpAbility2
3. In that scirpt, the castspell is replaced with an attack25 or attack26. a charge animation can also be done first. Make sure that the sigorder is left in.
4. In units.dat, it points to a weapon.dat entry that has the weapon.
5. the attack data from weapons.dat is read, and we have it attack.
i need kenoli and pauper to make the ionic research facility and the hmm...nvm just pauper just to see how will the IRF will be and have an idea for the icon so fasto fred and i can work on them, i belive there are already two icons in the other thread and hmm i looked at the at the tech tree ill have your tbl for tomorrow doa and to dtbk are we really having 3 upgrades?

Don't have an upgrade required for the attack. Just the addon for the building.

I know i didnt make it I edited a building. I think it looks really coool myself.

what i just did its hmm resize the IRF you made and with the cmdicons pallete i got the colors and used them as i liked

That build Ion cannon icon of Paupers doesnt look good. But the attack icon does very well. Ill have weapons dat done tomorrow.
So when will we actually start and what are we (dat modders) supposed to do?
If needed, I can try to make a quick sample mod using iscript, dat, and memgraft editing but it wont be very good
everyone else will be able to start when Ghrapics proness team
gives you everything projectile, ion cannon, irf, buttons and when the string masters give you the tbl btw give me 5 mins to do it
