DESTRUCTIVE DEFENSE
A defense map that mixes ideas from Volcano/Tsunami Run and my mind.

OBJECTIVES
  • Defend me, FatalException, against wave after continueous wave of enemies as I complete work on my machines.
  • Survive for 30 minutes.
SPECIFICATIONS
  • PLAYERS: 2 through 5
  • MAP SIZE: 96x96 (most likely)
  • TILESET: Badlands
STORYLINE(That's right, storyline for a Defense map shifty.gif)
"Ha!" I exclaimed as I put down my wrench and wiped my hands with a greasy rag. "I'm almost finished with my work! Soon I shall be protected against all threats, forever! I estimate ten more minutes of work on my shielding technology, and twenty minutes to finish my four beautiful Obliterator Cannons." I dropped the rag and picked up a screw driver and proceeded to turn a screw on the Shield Generator, when suddenly, my garages roof burst into flames! Disgruntled runners from races won long ago flew in through the roof, wielding knives in each hand. I used my ninja skill to teleport myself and my equipment to a remote island's canyon, where I continued my work. But as soon as all was silent, I saw a warp generator at the other end of the canyon, which was spewing out my enemies! I summoned the Great Protecters to defend me until I could defend myself. Now my fate is in your hands, Guardian...


FEATURES
Heroes: Duran - Procuress
Kerrigan - Lydia
Raynor - Insane
Devouring One (Zergling) - Juno
Edmund Duke (Both tank and BC) - Sicarul
Fenix (Dragoon) - Admiral_Ramirez
Zeratul / Tassadar Archon - Nuclearrabbit
Kukulaza (Mutalisk and Guardian) - SatansWorseHalf
Tassadar (both forms) - LurkerEgg
Enemy Paths: Depending on when the enemies get there, they will choose different paths. Be ready!
5 levels: Level 1 - Angry Track Runner
Level 2 - X-Box Live player
Level 3 - Olivia and Marina
Level 4 - WoW Mercenaries
Level 5 - Ninjas
3 Race: Use Protoss, Zerg, or Terran to defend the paths, and heroes to fire down from the cliffs.
Kills do stuff: Get you money to buy reinforcements, give you hero credits, unlock bonus units.
Charging enemies: Enemies attack anything in their way, hence the name "Destructive Defense."
Never go out: Invincible cannon at the beginning makes it so you still get money slowly, even if all your units are gone.

UPDATES
Jan. 1, 2006: Started making map. Happy New Year!
Jan. 2, 2006: Finished terrain, preplaced units, and locations. Released Version 0.2.
Jan. 14, 2006: Still trying to get the farking SCMDraft 2 working... Ugh... Also, added all the pre-placed units and locations. Ready for import to SCMDraft 2 for trigger work and finishing touches.
Jan. 18, 2006: I have SCMDraft working and have been doing triggering for the last two or three days. Soon I'll have the demo (Version 0.3) out. Wish me luck! happy.gif
Jan. 28, 2006: Just look at the (almost) demo and look at the progress since version 0.2! tongue.gif

[[attachmentid=17223] This is the nearly finished demo. The enmies can only turn one direction, the kills to cash and hero buying systems aren't in, stacking hasn't been added, and briefings aren't in. Ok, so it's not really nearly finished, but I'm getting there!

biggrin.gif I'm glad that everyone thinks it's so cool.gif, but does anyone have any suggestions? And I know I'm not very good with terrain, hopefully I can get a new editor soon. Stupid Broodwar Campaign Editor...

Does SCMDraft 2 have the Classic TrigEdit plugin? I've been using classic Campaign Editor all throughout my career as a mapper.

it seems like an entertaining map, not like an altogether great map, one of those maps that you'll play just to pass the time or just cuz' u can't find any other games, lol

LOL wow! ya we all no that u have super ninja powers, and that u can summon these 'Great Protectors of the Earth' ;-) but sounds like it will be great! this is the first defence game iv seen with a story. include me in the testing ;-)

Well, I do have ninja powers (not super fire-breathing clone-illusion making powers, but physical stuff, like uber anything climbing), but I can't summon Great Protectors in real life (that would mean summoning five people who have played this map biggrin.gif). And I'm going to add a testers list now. You're on it.

Oh wow, this one actually has a story. All the other defenses do not have stories tied to them. This can change defense maps forever!

ADDITION:
I'm having a wee bit of a glitch... I can't find the map in StarCraft so I can't test it on my own, which means I need people on Battle.net, but I have a firewall that prevents me from hosting. Help?

What's generic about it? I've never seen another defense map have the enemies go on randomly chosen paths, or have the enemies destroy everything in their way. Also, rare is the defense that gets you bonus units for getting kills (not hero credits, special units). There's also more stuff in there that I haven't told you, so in my eyes, this is far from a generic defense map.
