SEN is going downhill and is extremely backed up in many sections, let's face it. I think, as I'm sure a lot of other fellow SENers think, we need More DLDB Keepers, and Some new forum moderators, especially for the melee section. Almost no maps are being approved, and this is why we need a lot more DLDB Keepers. Post your thoughts/ comments/ pros/ cons About my post here. After all, that is your job tongue.gif.

How about we just let Moose decide if we need anymore... I'm sure the DLDB Keepers or the Moderators would report they need help. Then from there Mini will probally decide on hiring new moderators and DLDB Keepers.

It's quite obvious we need more, as they've admitted it themselves, plus I am not demanding new staff, I am simply suggesting it.

Well, so far, there has been no approval for the recruit of new staff by anyone yet.

I really don't know if we do. If I'm correct we have like 3 currently. I'm guessing staredit.net doesnt get more than 100 submissions a week. I might be entirely wrong though. So at 33 each a week or less. Obviously I'm not a moderator and I'm not sure whether thats to much to do or not.

I see no cons because there are only 3. Looking at the staff roster it seems we don't have enough staff to accomidate like 2000 activish members. I would think that we probably need more but I have no real factual basis why.

Use the fact that almost no new maps are being posted.

I definately agree with shorty with this post.

http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=24986

that's a link to what became a plea for more melee dldb keepers, if you notice some of the maps in pro ought to be in norm or not on the site and some of the maps in normal ought to be in pro...and (so i hear) the entire dldb isn't running as quick as it should when it comes to accepting maps, rejecting maps, putting them in correct areas, cleaning up some of the things that should be moved, etc.

we damn well need some good dldb keepers, and a few more mods, maybe forum specific.

i'm sure it's not easy for him, being the only really active admin recently, and if you read some of the posts on the thread that i put up, we could clean up the entire site.

one section at a time.

some of us tackle melee, others get modifications accepted smoothly, and then the majority of the site can focus on the main attraction, UMS.

ADDITION:
but the site does need this to be going faster.

no doubt about that.

Submitted maps should take AT MOST 1 week. unfortunately, that's not the case.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Falcon_A on 2006-01-03 at 02:19:34
i remember my first 2 maps that i submitted (they sux0r my nutz0r)

accepted in less than 2 days.

what happened to that, hm? it's getting ridiculous, i submitted my most recent maps (yeah, one like a week after the other) in late november...and i'm sure i wasn't the first one to put up a melee map, but...

i go into the section, and it's still "I could've been your daddy" as the newest addition. and costal kingdoms by garfield in pro. Pro, i could understand, maybe there aren't that many great maps coming up. but normal, heh, it ought to be flooded wink.gif

Meh i'll try to be a staff member to look at maps. Seeing how it tooked 4 weeks to get my wav sound approved, they do obvisously need more staff.

We have more than enough Forum Moderators to deal with. 2 Global Mods + 2 Admins + About 3 Mods per forums is more than enough to moderate them.

The problem with DLDB Keepers is that most of us had unfortunate happenings during the past few weeks. We can't always be on all of the time and performance will have it's ups and downs. When I had the DLDB to myself back in late 2004 maps got approved in a matter of hours, but that is because I had the facility to do so, which I no longer have.
We are humans and problems are bound to happen.

No new administrators are needed or to my knowledge, is any of the current Staff qualified to do so. What makes Administrators different is that they code the site and have access to the Admin CP. The only need or promotion of Staff to Admin is that that member knows PHP, and as far as I know, only I know PHP and I still say it's too little PHP Knowledge to be Admin. THe other person I think could be promoted is DTBK, but I don't think he knows PHP, his language is Python.

We have enough Tutorial Keepers, no questions about that.

What I think is the problem, is that you are generalizing the whole Staff to what has been happening to the DLDB lately and you don't but into the formula that we can't all be active all of the time and that it is possible for most of us to be incapable to do so.

Everything works good. It works good. It works good. It works good.
Or does it?

I do not ever remember an instance where a map was accepted in less then 3 hours. I've just never seen it. Maybe you were talking about your OWN maps being submitted. Not us lower-folk.

The only place SEN needs help in is DLDB keeper. Maybe two more of them would be nice.

If you're active on SC and know a good amount of triggers, you probabaly do.
I figured you wanted to be one by your previous posts.. I wouldn't mind being one, but I know I'm not going to be one -_-

Yeah, I think this is a good time for an assessment.

The DLDB is really lacking lately. Who is currently on it?
PCFredz, from what I hear, doesn't even have access to SC. We're keeping him on mainly for Mac support, as Beer explained.
Rantent, who I'm hoping is doing the brunt of the work.
BeeR_KeG, whose primary job is being a global moderator. He has access, but that is secondary. Same for DT_Battlekruser.

I might decide to do some hiring, most likely it will be behind the scenes, so you'll just have to wait on that. But, I do know that the majority of the lack of work is just a combination of coincidences affected all of them at once. They're going to need some time and your paitence to get back on track.

As for moderation in the melee section, I don't think that there is anything that CheeZe or MilleniumArmy can't handle. I'll rename one of those forums to help with organization.

I thought it wasn't going downhill? bleh.gif (According to you in PM)

But I agree.

Moose, you should ask the opinion of the Mods, on who should be a new mod if you decide for more Mods.

And for DLDB, you should have members of this site that have been into StarCraft longer than 3 years. In my oppinion, they know how to see a quality map when there is one.
