What is serious?
Staredit Network is not responsible for any offensive content that may be posted here. By entering this forum you agree that Staredit Network is void of responsibility towards the opinions from others.

Keep this forum serious! Topics about war, political, the world, and problems in the world are examples of serious issues.

Please be open minded. There is no right or wrong answer.

I don't believe that polls which generate people giving one liners belong in this forum, when you enter all you see is polls here and polls there. The weekly opinion poll should continue, but members shouldn't make every topic into a poll.

It encourages one line responses, and discourages thoughtful thinking. Something which I believe isn't need on SeN anymore that it already exists.

Whoops, I accidentally voted "Yes" but I meant "No". I'm soo hungry. My blood sugar's low.

I haven't really thought of this before, but I have to say I totally agree with Syphon here. 9 out of 10 polls on there are useless. It's difficult to define a person as an option they picked out on a poll. Polls shouldn't be banned there, but perhaps discouraged.

Polls should remain in Serious Discussion. Its like choosing a thesis statement, which are one liners. It is then the responsibility of the poster to expand, or else he'll run the risk of spam.

I don't like the 50 people saying.. "YEAH I VOTED FOR GOERG BUSH BECUS I THINK HES DOING A BAD JOB THATS WHY I VOTED FOR HIM THANX K I WONT SAY WHY I JUST WANT TO GET A CUMULATIVE POST THATS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME"
Well, maybe they don't say that, but people can just run in there, say what they voted for, but not explain why.

agreed, and really yes its serious discussion but im willing to bet more then 60% of sen is around the age of 9-18 , being a given we dont really need to worry about stuff like that, do we even need that forum to begin with?

I see now reason why Poll should be removed from Serious Discussion.

It would be the same as in the Feedback forum, it's here to give feedback and report bugs, but yet, we do have polls in here.

They'd still do that without the poll option though...

It'll happen less.
Also, it'd be spam if they didn't define why, unless it's for obvious reasons..

The feedback forum is for the general public opinion; serious discussion is for discussion. I think that no polls in serious and yes polls in here would be good.

Do you have concrete proof that it'd happen less?

I'm assuming it would.

Make it idiot proof, and someone will make a better idiot.

The whole point of serious discussion is to express your opinion.
A poll is the easiest way to do this, and offers members the chance do this anonymously.
A match made it heaven inlove.gif .

It's pretty much the same thing in here.

If a poll is held about wether the forum should be green or blue, we don't really care about how many votes went into which place. What matters are the reasons that back up a specific option and how many reasons each option has.

I voted for yes because as Shorty (who is completely correct imo) siad lets the user choose their opinion and remain anonymous. Also Cloud thats not proof, with that kind of debating skills, I'm surprised you even last in SD. BTW of course a majority are 15-18 year olds, this is a teens game (granted there are other age groups that play, but they are the minority.)

Syphon does have a point, but a poll if used correctly is a very handy tool. I just think that if a poll is meaningless then it should be closed right away. Report it if it has no point.

P.S. As the topic in clan mp was closed and I could not post, My outlook on you is that your very immature and keep spelling okay wrong. (pet peeve) Shorty imo was completely mature and got it thrown up in her face with flames in that discussion. Minigameeast was being mature and going on what he thought best. Lets try not to have that happen again, shall we? (figured since I had you hear I would tell you, sorry mods if this was TOO off topic)

oh i wouldnt think so, if some1 made a poll with a question

"Should this forum have blue or green background?"

and then the options

"Blue"
"Green"

that offers no reason to change pinch.gif

Put polls also offer comments n0rb.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cloud on 2006-01-08 at 13:32:08
meh true, but thats only if the creator of the poll lets comments in. theres a option to do that ya'know
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-01-08 at 19:13:50
Well then maybe this topic should be named "should polls without comments allowed be allowed?"
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cloud on 2006-01-08 at 23:20:59
nah, im only expressing my own view, not 5000 other members views.

This is why I made the SEN Statistics poll vote only. Since the poll is just simply about who/what you are, if people could reply, they'd just say something like "I'm Liberal" and nothing else. And also, when people see what/who each other are, they're going to give out their opinions for why they are what they are. If that happens, this'll end up as another SEN Weekly Opinion poll, and I dont want that to happen.
