Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Difficult problem...

How could I make computer players attack a certain enemy. Say they are fighting a marine and an ultralisk, how would I get them all to target simply the ultra. Or better yet have them switch targets.

Does moving their attack location affect who they attack? Wondeing if anyone has done research on this.

My test was: I had 4 Ghosts and a tank attack a Zergling and an Ultralisk, the Zergling far away enough so that it was just barely in the line of sight of the Terrans. I set the Terrans to attack the location of the Ultralisk, but they were distracted by the Zergling and killed it first, when they were supposed to attack the Ultralisk. Lesson learned: A Zergling and an Ultralisk can take down a tank and 4 ghosts, but you can't get a unit to attack a certain unit unless the other one is a. out of sight, or b. unattackable in some way (invincible, cloaked, etc.). My results were found using Broodwar Campaign editor though, so other people might answer differently...

Make all of the other enemies you don't want attacked invincible.

Edit: Location size and placement does matter, as well as how you order them to attack (patrol will attack every enemy unit along the way I believe).
However if all the enemies are close together toggling alliances and invincibility makes it easy to control who attacks what.

Use the order action... There is a option in there to not only "move" to a location but to "attack" at a location and choose the enemy to attack. You might have to do a simple center location action in there as well you make sure that the correct enemy is going to be attacked.

omg but that order makes them attack right away so they move in to the closest unit on the way to the location. Only way found out so far is the set other units invincible or make the unit u want attack the closest biggrin.gif

Order them to attack again once the Ultralisk is there. I'm pretty sure their AI will make them attack the strongest unit that is closest to them.

If you want to make it virtually undetectable, make two players with the same color, one allied, one un-allied, and then switch off.

Ok, I think I've got a way to do this. Thanks. biggrin.gif
