Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Religion topics

I have noticed that every forum seems to have its share of "religious debate" threads. I suppose this is a meta-topic, as I would like to hear opinions on why this is. Obviously religion--or lack thereof--is very important to people, but why do they feel the need to debate it online? And why is it so? Your thoughts on this, please, SEN.

Forums are over all a better place for debate about religion. Just got to look around for a good forum, and listen to the smart people there. Cause every forum has it's share of fooles.

Elucidate, please. What do those last two sentences mean, exactly?

I mean this in all seriousness. I personally see it a quite a serious topic: why is religion so important? Therefore, I wish to have a serious discussion about it.

I've mentioned this several times, I believe, but I will state it again.

Religion is a prevalent topic in everyday life, whether or not you'd like to believe it. The conflict in the middle east consumes the media. And the conflict in the Middle East is predominately caused by religion. Since America has gotten involved in Iraq, and since 9/11 was done by an extremist group who believed that strongly that they were right, it is only natural that people discuss religion to its full...

...even though 'its full' is never reached.

Ahh...and therefore people discuss it online, and other places. Even religions--and lack thereof--not related to the conflicts involved--although there are precious few of those. These are facets of the same topic, and they wonder why people believe so strongly that they will do these things, which brings up the question of why they believe at all, and other debate topics...
Quite sensical, Kame; I am satisfied. I pronounce this topic closed. Errr...if I can.

They are prevalent for the same reason religion itself is.

It seems rather peculiar that someone with your grammatical stylings and vocabulary would ask such a basic question..

Regardless, you'll find a bar labeled 'Moderation Options' at the bottom left.

Right now, most of the topics in this forum have to do with either Religion or Bush, both of which are acceptable (so far.)

Although I wish people could slowly move on to something else more interesting...\

EDIT: BTW I didn't lock this topic, someone else did.
