Avian flu, once a very scary flu, now where? hmm... the virus is still there, and is infecting people who deal with birds a LOT. but...
I havnt found a single thread on this. Post one up if you find one (BESIDES THIS ONE)
Why'd it all stop? (the news and stuff) SARS (also known as Asia flu always had a small headline in one or two newspapers everyday.)
Do you think that it will be able to transfer through humans?
Hasn't it already been transfered to humans? I read that somewhere.
Three deaths have been confirmed as being related to the avian flu, so that would be a yes.
ew its avian flu! must sail over to that other shizty country and eat several infected birds!! : 0
LIES
yes the avian flu is a threat in the case of our poultry farming but it isnt a big threat to humans.
The threat will be if it mutates into a human-attacking strain from exposure to farmers and the like.
yes but for now it is practically harmless except for those few people that did catch it.
I really like Bush's "plan" for this. It paints a rather somber picture. All I'll say is quarantine. I guess, given the lack of a remedy, that it's the only preventive measure to take.
Bird Flu is one of the big stories in the UK at the moment - the popular press are trying to stir up a panic.
Because some people in Turkey have died from it, the story has resurfaced (Turkey isn't that far from the UK).
Hey Will, maybe you could deport some Avian flu victims to Ireland?
Or Germany, if that suits your fancy.
I agree that Avian Flu's a problem. If it spreads to humans (more than one or two isolated cases), total quarantine may be the only option...

The way it works,
A person who is sick with the flu happens to handle infected poultry.. Now if it so happens that Avian Virus enters a cell already infected by the Flu Virus.. These two viruses exchange genetic information in such a way it maintains the Avian Flu deadlyness but now has flu like trasmission properties which means it can readily transfered from person to person.
= GG for everyone that hasn't been imunized.
Personally I wouldn't care if I died from such a virus since it's a form of suicide that doesn't look like suicide.. therefore I am pardoned for ending my existance here. Not that I'm suicidal, but I do fancy a way out of this existance. But this is a whole different subject.. hah so disgard this paragraph. PS. I also fancy the idea that this virus would kill a good portion of the world's population since they deserve to die also. DIE!

They have to be dealing witht he bird's... bodily fluids. (Feces, urine, etc.) To actually contract the virus, and they don't need the flu already.
yeah this one grossed me out.... rooster fighters in south east asia actually suck the mucus out of the roosters mouth.... because when roosters fight they create mucus for whatever reason and it can cause to suffercation for the bird. several asians have contracted the desease and its just disgusting....
I could really care less, the UK & US have much better living conditions and hospitals than most of the places that are affected by it. Really if the flu kills me, it kills me.
These "catastrophe" are made by the news.. i dont say that avian flu is a purely fictive story.. these story on the news are true.. but they talk about it 10x more than they would.. so people think its really worse than they use to think.. and they are scared.. Anyone knows that a scared people is much more easier to govern..
Ok, I did a report on the Avian flu and here are some things I can tell you. when i did the report, i remember at least 45 people caught the flu in vietnam, and china wont release information about it to others, they claim that only like one person has caught it in their country which is pretty much a downright lie, there's no way only one person contracted the disease in china. china argues that its very likely that someone caught the disease and a local doctor was not educated enough to identify it and report it, but people still think china is hiding things back like they did with SARS back in 2003,
secondly, at the time i wrote the report (like a month and a half ago, maybe 2 months ) china had been sending people around to villages on motorcycles trying to vaccinate every single bird they could find, from sun up to sundown, this operation has been having problems, mainly since china cant get enough vaccines. i dont know how the operation is going now
and finally, the possibility of a human epidemic with this is very unlikely. a person would have to catch the virus, which is like an uncontagius yet extremely deadly version of the flu, and have it mutate so that it is still be just as deadly and spreads like the common flu. if THAT happened, there would be a problem. but, its also possible that the virus mutates into something that is just as contagious as the flu, but loses its deadliness in the mutation. also, the odds of a person catching this flu from a bird AT ALL is very rare
ask me any questions if you like and if you want i can pull out my sources

Thats not as bad as what they did when the flu was first discovered in their country. I remember hearing in the newspapers that in three days, they had killed every farm bird across their nation.
Although I'm not sure if thats even possible...
I believe that the statistics were around 180 people dying of bird flu. Something like that.
And yes, the virus isn't really a threat as it can only be transferred from bird to human, not human to human.
I bet you've heard of the secret facilities in the lower islands of alaska, where major fast food resturants have built places to keep chickens out of the way of the flu.

This flu isnt' even a big deal. The United States was freaky out like usual. China and india was asking australia for help, incase they got it. Australia said no, it's not a big deal and you freaking over nothing. I agree. If you do get it, i mean get it treated.. but it's not everwhere and only like 20 cases have been found or w/e.
