Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mpstark on 2004-06-04 at 15:34:56
Just in time for the next Map Night, here is the (hopefully) finished version of Diplomacy Generations. Because I haven't done any testing with more than 1 person recently, I still am a little tentitive on the balancing and on some of the triggers. Hopefully, on next Map Night, we will test it and find nothing wrong. Oh, and one thing... I can't host maps on B.net because of my firewall, so someone will have to host it for me. Be sure to download this version of Diplomacy, it the best one (IMO).

Full Overview of Diplomacy Generations-

-More Control
-Pick three specials
-Pick a government that ACTUALLY affects the game
-Donate money AND units to your allies.
-Tired of people leaving and the nearest person getting ALL of there cities. Well... NO MORE. All buildings are givin to the computer player who will just hold them.

-More Complex (In a easy sorta way)
-Hire mercs (Cool ones too) like a squad of marines, a tank, a commando, a shock tropper, and a landing craft!
-Another resource, Industry (Gas), build tanks and such with it
-Random Events that will either help OR hinder you
-Some buildings do more than just sit there. (Acadomy makes a commando every
turn, Nexas makes spies, and you can build artillery with a shield battery)
-Said before, donate UNITS to your ally, which can become a major factor in any defencive war
-Unlike in other Diplomacy games, you can NUKE! Commados are a key part of the game

-More Fun
-More thought provoking
-More stratagy
-Easy to manage
-Easy to play
-It just is!

Download it and play it and have fun with it! While not as complex or as cool looking as 'The Matrix' or the 'Wheel of Time', it has one thing going for it. IT'S DONE! (Mostly, at least). At least try it and post the bugs that you see here or PM with them. I'll write them all down and fix all of them in the next release. It's locked so you can even play a couple public games with it and spread the word. Go conquer Europe, like in the good old days. Have FUN! w00t.gif

Looking into it. Doesn't do that on my really crappy machine, so I don't know what the problem is. Nobody else that has played around with it has said anything about lag, so maybe it's just you. Which color were you?

EDIT-
Looked into it. Now that I'm looking for it, lag DOES seem to be a small problem, and I'm looking into ways of redusing that lag. As for not being able to choose your government, I have no clue. All the time I've played I could, you just choose all your specials and it centers and gives you a civ. What color were you?

Maybe the government trigger isn't set for certain players? Or runs out because either the Conditions are incorrect or else isn't Preserved?

Lag can be sorted by reducing number of units, triggers running at one time and such. You could put limits of the size of people's armies, or what they can have, depending on their choice?

I think I've tested all the colors on the governments. Maybe I'm wrong...
