I say no. I think its a hollow threat.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Caboose on 2006-01-16 at 22:30:29
Yeah I think it's a hollow threat, how would they get money if they stopped trading, I assume, their main source for money.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheDaddy0420 on 2006-01-16 at 23:05:42
Well I think the leader could careless. Isn't Iran a dictatorship? or it use to be at least....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-01-16 at 23:07:34

It may be a hollow threat, but the U.S. can't afford that kind of hit to our oil supply.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheDaddy0420 on 2006-01-16 at 23:08:27
But we don't buy oil from Iran ermm.gif

It would screw the EU, and the UN has more EU members then US obviously. You can say its a hollow threat all you want but the leader is a crazy motherfcker. He claims the holocaust was a hoax, vows to wipe isreal from the face of the earth.... you really think he won't stop all oil trade with the UN? I feel that they have the right to nuclear energy, but not weapons. I say we let them get to that energy stage and then if they continue forward, fark them up.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-01-16 at 23:15:21

I'm sure we buy oil from people who buy oil from iran.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sie_Sayoka on 2006-01-16 at 23:17:18

Don't we get most of our oil from Saudi Arabia?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-01-17 at 11:04:23
It has been predicted that the crazy Iranian president will not last much longer - he is hated by Iran's corrupt political élite (the Mullahs) and by the majority of his people (a poll showed 75% of Iranians wanted to make amends with the US, known as 'The Great Satan' in Iran).

If the Mullahs don't overthrow him (they are already trying to get him impeached) then the people probably will.

That said, they better hurry up, because I don't think President Madman (The Iranian one and/or the American one) is making hollow threats. The USA really can't intervene in Iran because it's already so occupied with Iraq.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-01-17 at 12:38:22
But the US will come up with an excuse to go to Iran while we are in Iraq, causing the US to have to pull the draft out again.

Bush needs to be impeached and expulsed. That's all there is to it.

He's lied to the country many times, publicly announce he spys on us, and he created the Patriot Act...

We need to stay out of Iran.

I don't think it's a hollow threat, because if he quits selling Oil, prices will skyrocket. Then he will start selling again when it's needed, but at super high prices.

He will have the supply, and we will have the demand.

Supply & Demand.

Economics my friends.

Well what about our national oil reserve? We have enough oil there to keep the prices steady untill the Iranian leader is long out of office/their economy collapses. ermm.gif

Knowing Bush, he won't tap into them, just to make the Evno's happy.

And why tap into our own supply of oil, when we can do it later when all the other nations have ran out, and create a monopoly on Oil???

Think about it in a different way. I answered yes because i would have said that to world if they kept bothering me in my politics in my country. Think. If china becomes as strong as other people, smart people, believe, then they will try to change our politics to their way so that they can look like the "world supreme power." Then we wouldn't want them to bother us, so we would tell them, "paws off." Same thing with Iran.

I geuss its all about the money again eh?

That's all this country is ran on. Look at who are the people in office.

People with money.

Do you see some hick farmer who can barely support his family, running for president?

No.

Apparently, you're to inaine to realise that in the world, money = power. And that people do stupid things to get money: Iraq War

How is the Iraq War justifiable as a profit you ask?

Did you know Muslims do not believe in income tax?

Why not boot out the muslims and create a democracy, so we can have "good relations" with Iraq because we put the democracy there, thus causing us to get oil at a cheaper price, and make the muslims pay income tax? When we have untapped resources here, and our taxes are high?

Quit being such a twit Stars, and just admit that our country is corrupt beyond repair.

I never said anything about denying money. I merely commented on your statement. Do not put words in my mouth, and you are bring up more then one topic in that reply in a foolish/funny way to arguement something that I am not argueing against. Stop trying to start things.

"And you are bring up"? Okay Mr. Smarty pants.

I didn't start things, I pointed out things. If there is an Iran War, it is for the same reasons as the Iraq war. Are you do nieve to understand that?

haha are you blind? You are provoking me, second time. And yet AGAIN you state beliefs/assumptions about me/my thoughts. Tell me do you even know what my stance is on Iran?

Kellimus, STOP IT! Your constant barrage of insults on someone who hasn't said anything remotely close to a flame is getting annoying. Yes its all about economics, and yes money actually puts you more in debt being as the USA has as much money as it can pump out. He has already tapped into the reserves so its safe to assume he will again. He will be forced to. He does need to be impeached for the simple fact that he lied to us, spies on us, and justifies it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shadow-Killa_04 on 2006-01-25 at 02:31:13
I see both ways to apoint. Iran like every country should have the right to privacy and to stop trading when they feels that they're being taken atvantage of. However, the united nations in general is a rather fair institution and if they feel trouble is afoot they should act as needed.

It doesn't matter to much if we don't buy oil from Iran or not. Either way prices would go up technicaly. Supply and demand is our basis of our economy and if some country stops producing oil the supply is lowered. That country might not be trading to us directly, but the country it was trading to has to buy it from some other supplier that might happen to be the one were buying form. Either way, it'd eventualy hit us.

I have to agree to Euro, kellimus. I tend to agree with you kellimus on many things, but all your doing is being annoying.
