Today...well technically yesterday, but all the same, today was the Canadian parliamentary election. From all indications, the Conservative Party of Canada, fronted by Steve Harper, has won. Harper is the Canadian version of Bush; foolish, and just as useless (this also describes essentially every political party in Canada).

Say hello to oil extraction.

They aren't all foolish, I voted Marxist-Leninist. We jsut seem like we'd be better at communism than Russia or China.

He might, I'm not sure why Canada has such a passifist reputation, we have a very warlike reputation. We stopped going into wars in Vietnam, before then we had always gone in before the US, gone in without the US, or saved the US. Luckily we've always been allies. (Since Canada's confederation anyway.)

If you actually knew anythnig about Canada you'd see how much oil extraction we actually have going on. It's lots.

everyone knew that steven harper would win the election with a minoritary governement.. and all that because of 1 word.... scandal.. this word rimes with liberal (d'uh, what i mean is.. liberal did many scandals recently) and people wanted to change.. and harper came saying: hi! i'll kick their ass and reduce the taxes! .. and that was enough to win..

being a quebecer, i support the quebec bloc party (who got more votes than NDP btw)

but a realistic choice for a govenement would be the Jack layton's NDP

i think harper is just temporary.. because the 3 other parties will just try to kick his ass like harper, layton and duceppe did with paul martin..

so dont worry.. i dont think harper will have the time to build an army and join his forces to bush and do w/e someone who's scared of concervative party could think of..

The Liberial Party of Canada is Currupt(take it from a canadian. first hand evidence). I honestly wanted the NDP to win.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Septhiroth on 2006-01-24 at 17:24:11
Stephen Harper wins in the West.......Meh a New PM is elected but this will be really good as two conservative leaders (Canada and the US) can now have better relationships between with each other, including military (which not sure if its good)
Gas & Oil and other stuff. But finally the provinces that are in the West (Alberta, British Colombia and Saskachewen will become more improtant in Canada. Hopefully he can increase more seats in those provinces and improve the west as much as the east of Canada.

Results-
Conservative-124
Liberals- 101
The Bloc- 51
NDP- 29
IND-1

But Meh Stephen Harper was dissapointed for the reasults as he was expecting to gain more seats for the Conservative to have a majority Goverment, but in the end he gained a minority Govermen, which is BAD!!! for the Conservatives. But meh we all Canadians knew that the Conservative would win. But lol the funny thing is that in the Student Election reasults were suprising.

Student Election
Conservative- 37%
NDP- 24%
Liberal- 16
Other- 23%

The Surprising thing is that the NDP is second. Student Elections doesn't count , but these will be the future voters some day. So it's actually important for parties to get reasults such as these the NDP is the second popular on student Vote, which means that Layton will have more votes and more seats in the next few years from young NDP voters.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But now finally Canada is no longer Liberal as it's now finally Conservative. We shouldn't really be worried about having a Conservative Party controlling the Goverment, but what we should really be worried about is the how the new Goverment system shall work. So let us be happy he's our new PM, besides he won fairly and the majority of people demands to believe in the Conservative this time so, give the party a Chance, although I actually wanted the NDP to winn too tongue.gif but meh Layton wouln't possibly win in this election but maybe after the next two elections he could.........

But Yea that pretty much sums it up but I really do think the Conservative Party should take this opportunity to change canada. I won't want the corrupt Liberal party to be any longer control in Parliament and I would never want the Bloc win as they demand to seperate Quebec from Canada, but on the other hand.................. If Quebec did seperate from Canada then we'll let the United States invaded and claim it as their 51st State biggrin.gif no worries we'll let you keep it tongue.gif. The NDP naw.......they're always in foruth place.......... but I do want them elected.

O Well this Raps up the 2006 Canadian Election......... But Lame.... How dare Martin hold up a bloody election as DECEMBER ticks me off!!.

That might have been your school for student election. but my school was somewhat like this.

NDP-278 votes(or so)
Other(including Liberial)-220 votes(or so)

Oh btw i just found out.. its STEPHEN not Steven.. (nor steve or stevey hehe)

hmm i think the concervative party will stay there for a while even if they only got 124.. here's why

The liberals gotta find a new leader.. which takes a lot of time and money (we saw that recently with the PQ, it took about 1 year)

I don't see why the bloc would want elections soon, they couldnt get more than what they got..

same for the NPD

They will stay for a while until the liberals find someone..

this is pretty funny..

In my riding I didn't have any independent or the communist party, marijuana party, Cana-dian Action Party, Christian Heritage Party, Libertarian, Marxist-Leninst or PC party. ONly the 4 nation wide ones, Conservative, Liberal, NDP and Green.

For my school, I don't remember the exact votes but it was in this order
Liberal
Conservative
Green
NDP

Green should be invited into their debates rather than the BQ. Bloc Quebecois only has ridings in Québec. Green however has it all over Canada.

I don't really care that much if either the Liberals or Conservative won but if I had a choice it would be Liberals. Oh well at least Conservative only got a minority government.

What do you think the Canadian election was going to do for the world? For my opinion, nothing really. Nothing major is going to change. Canada really is a big land with freezing weather and all-so-proud-to-be-Canadian fanatics. I didn't intend to offend any Canadians, but if i did, I apologize.

Even if Harper is like bush its not all that bad, actually if you think about it, if ever canada gets attacked(theres a -50% chance of that thou...) we're gonna at least have something to defend our country with other then us going "OMG!!! NO WE LOVE PEACE!!3241! DONT KILL US!3241#!~$1"

You do know Canada has a summer and can get really hot. It is not always freezing cold all year round. But I do agree about how our new Prime Minister will do much in the world, unlike the US presidential elections. When you guys were electing it was all over our news, I really doubt ours was on yours.

Canadian bacon is betetr than American bacon, Mexican bacon beats both. Chuck Norris should be a flavour fo bacon.

Errrr What does this have to do with Bacon? (Unless were talking about food yum!)
But anyways It may probably not effect North America as much but it will at least effect some.
