In My Controls, when I try to open up an attachment, it just brings up a white page with a
ton of text on it.

Apparently, it only copies the first four characters, but there are seriously like four pages of that text filling up the screen.
This happens with any attachment, even the ones in posts.
Say I have this:
CODE
[B]RAWRZMONSTER.PNG[/B] 38.96k [B]In Soviet Russia...[/B]
( Number of downloads: 65 ) 24th January 2006 - 07:04PM
[B]( ID )[/B]
[B]{/B] would signify that it is a link.
RAWRZMONSTER.PNG is the ASCII code of the file. Since you are using a bowser that only reads HTML, CSS and Javascript, (PHP and Python are server-side scripts which execute in the server to create variable HTML). It can't read whatever code composes images or other files.
( ID ) - Tells you the attachment ID at SeN. For example: [atachment=XXX]
In Soviet Russia... - Will link you to the location in which the attachment was posted
I got the same error.
ÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿàÿØÿà
I jsut noticed that the text on the freaky page is dynamic to an extent, some will disapear, some can't be unseleted. some can't be selected etc.
All of the user posted images are also skrewed beyond belief.
It's settled. Attachments are broken from a glitch.
Let's watch as sen goes down for another week.
This is a serious glitch, it's no longer a hidden threat.
What's going on here? I couldn't check out any attachment.
I wanted to see Ashe....
It's not a big problem. Whatever script prints out the image probably messed up the header row for the image so it is no longer recognized as an image.
You simply see the ASCII of the image instead.
not just the images DT.. it's the downloads also.
That's because they are attachments.
"Its not a big problem" that's funny...I thought this site was based around downloading SS of maps and downloading the maps themselves
Its happening to me too. Lots o' lettery things.

dorkhawk, he was referring to..
Still, image attatchments are a big part of the site. I don't actually see ever a need for atatchments, websites like pufile.com are there for a reason.
Any word on a fix?

It's just the attachments, the DLDB works.
I haven't seen anything big in attachements recently. I don't think Moose has seen this yet..Whatever it may be, the preview for the pictures work, but if its in attachment form for user download it will not show. ASCII shows!

How about IP?
oh wait.
speaking of bugs, When i was trying to pm someone last night, Sen went crazy. I went send pm and the ban at the bottum Shrunk soo small and you were able to go across the site for like 2 minutes.. it was soo weird.
It was probably just a one time kind of thing that happens when some code bounces out of where it's supposed to be.
Not every site is perfect you know. Im glad it works as well as it does currently.
I finally have a use for my personal website space.
Im a newb so I dont know anything about attatchmetns and all that stuff.

eh? well if you need help, an attatchment is basically a link to a download or something like that.
Don't know? Don't post.
Anyway, I really don't know what's causing this, much less how to fix it. I'll stare at the code for awhile when I get the chance.

Question...
I don't know much about coding for websites... But how would the attachements all of the sudden stop working? Did some how the code get mixed up?

my theory is someone put an oversized attachment and it was somehow accepted and screwed up the entire thing. then again that doesnt make much sense...
My theory is that it reads extensions wrong. Which might stem from your theory, or from the SQL coding gettign messed up when you fixed it from the downtime.
Maybe the attachments are being read wrong by the server. Maybe we upload them as files and the server exports as its own file. In essence, a text document. It is reading and importing the information no doubt, but its exporting it incorrectly.
Did you configure the exporting of the files incorrectly?
I keep forgetting attatchments are funky. I have to post on imageshack. -.-
