Please MOD's move this to the Off Topic location, and in future make these over there. About a few days if quick or longer if large project.

Depends on how long u take on the map(me=LaZy w00t.gif ) and how big and how good u want the map to be

EDIT:Fine then it isn't off topic..

This isn't off topic. Its Map Making related wink.gif

I used to pump out maps every 3 months, but that has changed. Partly because the demands of map making are higher and that my life comes first.

These time discussions are banal and stupid. It will always depend on project size and motivation. That's what it comes down to. There is no definite "time to make a map".

that's why he said this out of boredom, as in simply asking direct answers from people. maps for me take about a month, but because i only recently got the prioritzing straight, most of them have unfinished terrains, like WOS Alpha. i have another upcoming RPG with more spells and items, so far it's codenamed World of Starcraft 2. how very original. the map properties though says Wakka Wakka RPG, that's probably what it'll become later. overall i guess even though map size affects the time a lot, there are people like me who focus purely on 256x256 RPG's.

Time spent on a map and actuall time elsapsed during start and finish are complealy differant things for me. House of the haunted took about 8 months from start to the last public version release. And my bound after that took aboug 6 months but that includes several months of doing nothing. On the other hand my map Reflector took me 5 days. and most my maps before house of the haunted took about a month or so.

I'll assume you mean time between start and finish.
Well, seeing as I've never finished a map, I dunno.
But a long time. I'm lazy biggrin.gif

About a week to a month.

motivation is the key to this. Without it, it could take ages and ages.

i spend an 1 hour a day when i do map making so i dont get bored of the map and the Editer.

i get lots of time when i make maps. usually it takes my 2 months to complete a map, thats because i get like 4-6 hours to work on them. I dont get very much homework at school, would thought i woulg get hw since im in high school.

Few days to week if single scenario, campaign could take months...

For me, about three months... I think that was about the time for Aliens, and Aliens: Infestation (the two maps I made that I'm proud to talk about). My current map, Aliens: Harvest... Well, I've been working on it since September... So that would be about nine months... Sh!t... Harvest has been alive a long time. On a related note... Be sure to DL it as soon as it arrives in the downloads section! closedeyes.gif Oh yeah... and I wasn't working for like 4 months ethier. Funny, House of the Haunted and Harvest have more than a few things in common. Actually Bolt, if you didn't make HotH, I probally wouldn't have made Harvest, or any of my Aliens maps for that matter, thank you Jesus... erm... I mean Bolt. wink.gif

At least a month, for the ones that get finished, but I've abandoned a three-month project or two before.

Ermm..same as all...took me a while to make my first map when i had a not so good amount of experience with the editor(before i cmae or even knew about this place and before i started using the map editor) i made a "ultra n00blet" map and well, took me about 3 days to get everything right, and it was kinda popular in Battle.net for like 2 days before everyone never made the game anymore pinch.gif Now that i have a lil more experiance, it would of took me 2 hours to make that same "newblet" map i made. wink.gif
