I have always wanted to make a chess map, before I even knew that there was one already. I am building it from scratch with my own triggering.

Progress is excellent so far.

I have completed all directions and triggers for the castle piece, pawn, knight, bishop and king and queen! Currently a minor aligning problem with castle and queen, should be fixed soon!

Ok- Aligning problems fixed! And Alignment system enhanced.

The gameplay will be nice and easy. You simply have to unload a unit from your dropship, over the desired unit you wish to control. If you make an accident, simply unload another unit and your move will be reset. To finish your move, you simply unload a different unit aswell.

There will be NO cheating, it will be impossible. The downfall to the anti-cheating process is that when you move your unit to an enemy unit to kill him, you will be glued to him to avoid the ability for you to instead move onto another enemy unit (thus breaking the rules). If you do this accidentally however, you can always reset your move. Anyway, every other anti-cheat mechanism does not work like so, so it wont be some cheap mechanism.

I hope my version will end up better than the current chess, as it is being made in a more modern time with more knowledge at our hands. I just had a look at the current chess game. Let me tell you, this pwns it. No waiting or anything, this is instant as soon as you make your move. Unlike that one by gold.

Beta ready!! To make it work, make sure your computer shows file extensions, and right click the file and click save target as. Rename the htm file you downloaded to .scx and its ready to play!

Version 1.32 - 3/14/06

- Quick additional bug fix to the pawn bug fix in 1.31

Version 1.31 - 3/14/06

- Fixed a vertical alignment problem with the queen.

- Fixed a bug where a pawn could skip a unit in front of him using the double block jump he gets at the start.

- Unit sounds are now muted.

Version 1.3 - 2/8/06

-Fixed various bugs with a remastered horizontal alignment system.

-Added a mini chess board to the bottom right hand corner to allow for strategic planning, allowing you to see the board easier. (thanks to rantent for idea).

-Due to the remastered horizontal alignment system, the queen will load 1 second faster.

-Fixed a rare bug where making a move to kill the opponent ended up in the move being made but the opponent not dieing.

-The check system has been postponed to 1.4.

Version 1.2 - 2/2/06

-Your dropship will now move to the last place you finished your move to enhance gameplay. (Thanks to rantent for idea)

-Cloaking abilities and etc have been removed from units.

-Added 2 spectators! You can now show off your chess skills live

Version 1.1 now out. - 2/1/06

-Fixed a bug where the queen could move diagonally and then move up to skip a unit in front of her.

-Fixed a bug where if player 2's unit selection was not successful, the civilian would stay on the ground.

-Fixed a bug where no more units could be created, causing a problem with the rule system.

The blocks of terrain are not as big. Also, this is much easier to play.

I am about 80% finished with the knights.

right click the image, and click save target as on your desktop. Then, rename the extension to .jpg.

Well, they will use the grid system to determine where they are allowed to move, and you simply move them to the area and finish your move by unloading a unit.

very very nice, but the pics arent good, lol....anywayz...yeh this ahta be a cool game, isnt it hard to create the triggers though...I mean you have like to creat a trigger for every place you move a board peice so that the computer will know where to move so its not like a win-win scenario, you know???

That my friend, is done through the use of a mobile grid smile.gif

I have now perfected the alignment system, so all units will stay perfectly in the center of their square.

And the Bishop is 100% complete!

By the way all these units are complete for player 1 so far, I have not started player 2 yet lol.

King is 100% complete. Queen is the only one that remains, and is the hardest to trigger.

Current play commands 0 king = checkmate.

I havent thought about check triggers yet..

Alright, finished queen! But I am currently having a minor aligning problem with castle and queen, should be fixed soon! After that, I will begin copying the triggers for player 2 smile.gif

Reviewing the chess board, I notice one design flaw. There is one row missing in my map. Between the two opposing teams at the start, there are 3 rows instead of 4 rows empty. I dont think this should be a major problem but if so please tell me because it will be harder to implement as progression continues.

ADDITION:
Ok I couldnt stand having that difference between the real game and this so I restructured the triggers to fit the new row, it took a good hour but it was worth it smile.gif!

Tomorrow I shall work on player 2 then I will beta test. After which I will release the game here for all of you to try and give me feedback!
