Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Location Wont follow...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Zombie on 2006-02-05 at 16:38:57
For some odd reason my location wont follow mu unit anymore.

here is the trigger.

Trigger
Players:
¤ Player 1
Conditions:
¤ Always
Actions:
¤ Center location labed 'xxx' on 'ccc' owned by player 1 at location 'xxx'
¤ Peserve Trigger

I made sure my unit was 'ccc' and my unit is in the location 'xxx' so i cant figure out whats wrong.

If the 'ccc' escapes from 'xxx' because of lack of hypertriggers, running out of hypertriggers, or by having so many actions per cycle that even with hypertriggers the 'ccc' can escape, the 'xxx' will not go back onto the 'ccc', since it's no longer there. Make sure you have enough hyper triggers: a single hyper trigger will cut out regularly!

Are 3 enough?

Im not sure if this effects it, but i put the hypers on player 4 ( a unsed player) thats what i heard you should do. So does that explain anything

As long as the player is in the game and doesn't use any waits, then it should be fine. Try using 'Anywhere' as the location the unit is in and then see if any problems occur.

Pretty sure hyper triggers don't work for unused players, needs to be a player in the game. As for the location, make sure you don't have 2 of the same units in the same location "xxx". And use always like urmom said (if you always want it to be following). Not sure if it works if you center location on the unit and the unit is in that location, which is what you did.

Make it center on the unit ccc at ANYWHERE.

Also, place a good 6 hypers in all players section. First, delete all hyper triggers, save map, then put hypers and save every time you wanna save your map. It fixes a lot of bugs if you use other wait triggers.

how come no one noticed that the xxx would center on xxx?

isnt that kinda wierd? thats like saying i need to be on me

so yeah, make the second xxx be ANYWHERE!!!

ADDITION:
also, place a wait 0 seconds between preserve trigger and the centerview trigger.
That might help.

You can center locationA on unit at locationA, just as long as the unit does not escape it.

KaboomHahahein is right - players not in the game (ie players that have no slot in the game, people who have left the game, or players after p8) do not run triggers. The normal advice is to give the hypertriggers to a neutral or computer player which doesn't have wait actions in its other triggers.

Your trigger looks ok - make sure that it's the same in your map, with preserve trigger and the correct locations/units/players.

If you still have problems, try posting the map (although i'm not sure what the deal with attachments is atm)
