Yo all,
I want to make a Star Wars map. For SF I would need the shooting-across-whole-map effect. I know there's a tutorial about it, but I also know someone has said it was impossible.
I need confirmation if it still works, and if so, how.
that dose'nt seem possible you can make triggers that kill on some condition but u can't make any units shoot that far
I remember planning to make a map with that bug (yes chester, it's a real thing) back when I learned about it, but I haven't heard anything about it in ages and have never seen it work, so there's a good chance that it was patched, as it just seems too useful to never appear if it still works.
Addition: If that's the case, you might have to use virtual projectiles (i.e. units, maybe interceptors, scarabs, or nukes if you need something fast) or substitute fancy explosion effects for actual shots.
It used to be possible, there was an extended unit that had a very large area, but was invisible. However, extended units were disabled in one of the infamous 1.13* patches.
That was a unit I discovered, it dosen't work anymore, it wasn't invisible, it was patched before 1.13, extended units aren't disabled.
Smasher please stop that spam. Yes this should be solved. When exactly was this unit patched? And how did it make other units shoot across the screen?
You can still make units shoot across the map with the moving bunker. Just fyi, and if that was what you were looking for...
There was a unit (2008 or something) that in-game was a zergling (clicking would crash) that would cover the whole width of the map (Never tried on 256 though) so clicking from anywhere would attack it (except from above, I found once). You could have zerglings attack air!
Well some units (E.g. wraith) will shoot a thing that moves across the screen, so you could place the extended unit and a wraith in the shadows (on opposite sides of the screen) and have lasers and spores flying across your screen for a cool effect.
Last I heard it was patched.

It made units shoot accross the screen because it was so wide and long. Since Starcraft units attack the center of units, it appeared as if the unit was shooting across the screen.
