Yeah I know there's a Halo 2 thread which is semi related to Microsoft Bista, but this is it's own thread. And how retarded of an operating system it is. Has anyone seen the screenshot of Vista?:

Useless 3D browsers, thanks a bunch microsoft, you sure do know what we need. I mean, 3D browers, can you imagine all the possiblies? First off you'd have to get a better graphics card, and you can't just have a crappy one and run the internet. But it's not just a decent video card, it's a bunch of other things:

Microsoft has mandated that to use these advanced features you must absolutly have 512MB of RAM in your computer, although they say that 1GB is recommended.

WTF?!
This isn't Elder Scrolls: Oblivion! this is a farking operating system!!! What's the point of adding all this useless crap? Also the very useless new feature of Alt Tab, which is basically the PC version of presing F11 on a mac. Very original, the thumbnails make it all much better.

Microsoft Vista sucks.

I've seen the screenshots. One of the worst attempts to get more money (eventhough I love Microsoft). I really don't care about the 3D stuff, and really, I'll need to upgrade my computer if I wanted to run Vista smoothly...so I'm not going to get Vista.

This is the link to the "first" Vista discussion.

None of this is really new or surprising since MS makes a new OS every 5ish years.

Oh I'm sure you won't have to do the 3-D browsing. Other things do interest me though, such as improved security (I'm doubtful of what that will mean) and more reliable networking. Also, hopefully the 64-bit edition (which will probably be standard as most processors, if not all, are 64-bit compliant now) of Vista will utilize the 64-bit architecture much more efficiently.

I wouldn't get Win XP 64-bit but I would get Vista 64-bit, because that's when I think just about all products will go 64-bit.

I think the thumbnails might be... interesting, but I won't use the 3-D browsing.

Another thing I hope they don't do is have different editions. It's so dumb, because there are things that you can do on Pro that you can't do on Media Center and vice versa.

lol..

You can turn off the 3-D browsing if you want.. you arn't forced to turn on all the features that require a good video card.. you can disable them... duh..

This is rich though: Intel is developing a quad-core x86 processor (that's 32-bit). That makes no sense! We're moving to x64 (64-bit). Why are they doing this?

It means that there is built-in tracking packets in Windows Vista that completely throw "Security" down the drain, enabling Microsoft to monitor ALL internet activity from ALL computers running Windows Vista.

That is the only downside I know of to Windows Vista, but it's a big one.

I mean.. er.. what a waste of packets.. will cause lag.. ya.. that's why I'm worried about it.. lag.. ermm.gif

Because they are Intel. Intel loves doing things that make no sense and cost lots of money.

Another reason for my dad to upgrade the computer.
Will 3D browesers be set to optional?

I must say, I tried the beta of Vista (back when it was Longhorn) and it wasn't very impressive. And from what I've heard, my opinion still hasn't changed.

You don't need a video card for just that, besides that Windows Vista can either come in a single pack or make another hardware computer. Seriously, it's called "Next-Gen", they were about to call it Windows Longhorn, but it sounds like more of a redneck name so they thought of Vista.

Like syphon i am currently running a beta oh windows vista, It's pretty useless right now...Maybe they will make it better but man. cursing.gif Wolf's Advice: STICK TO XP!!!!
1. Most people don't have the system requirements
2. Vista is probably gona be expensive
3. Vista is useless
4. Somene will probably make a XP skin or whatever it's called if your so excited for the 3D browsers

"Flip 3D" is a new alt-tab ("Flip") like way of going through windows. Scroll down to the bottom. They really removed all the things I was interested in, but it still sounds kind of cool. I'll get it later on probably. Right now I've got Window XP 64 Bit Edition. I haven't installed it because I have to pick up my computer (my one with a 64 bit processor) from the computer repair place (A.K.A. we'll format it for you).

:: Edit
And by the way, saying an operating system is "useless" is a really stupid thing to say. And people who like to say Microsoft sucks: I doubt you have much of an idea of the work they've put in to many excellent products. Not to mention the ingenious message-based aspect of the API.

Good luck, you'll find that apps will be made to run on 64 bit processers and integrate with Vista.

1. No
2. Yes, same with all the other OS's
3. Absolutely not, people said that with XP.
4. Already done, but very buggy and useless.

Technology is increasing and price is decreasing, it will be affordable and standard when Vista comes.

Well, yes that is true. But with bills and stuff, they might upgrade, but then theres the price of of Vista which for the first probably 2-4 months is gona be super :curse:ing high and, well i know Vista isn't even in my top 50 things to get right now.

I wish they could just make an operating thats only goal was to run programs and be as efficient as possible. That way you could run your programs at maximum hardware acceleration and if you wanted a fancy desktop download a shell pack.

and if you guys hate the 3d so much then just disable it....

That's exactly what Windows 2000 was, except without the fancy shell pack crap.

XP is useless. Until 2000 stops working, it will be.
Vista will be the same way. Until the previous OS stops working, why switch? I'd rather not pay over 100 dollars for a new browser and "Flip 3D"
