In a world where Evil looms in the
               shadow of ignorance
A world where those who have power, do not believe in Hell
One man shall take on the burden of the world, and Slay our ignorance
And he is not alone, those who embrace the Truth stand by his side
As the world turns to Anarchy and Confusion, these Warriors shall light
               the way out of Darkness
We are those, who can not fight, who are cowards... So we shall tell
               their Legacy - their Tale!
I'll turn the end of the World into a Tale... One so fanatical it can only
               be told as...

                                             A Tale of Bushido

Story

Prologue

It is Spring time in Shizuoka, the large North-Western region of this land.
Over the past year... there have been a string of clan murderings, rapes, and pillages.
Many of the people in this land, say it was the Yutomo Ninja Clan who have been the cause of all the problems.
However... the few who survive the destruction of many villages, towns, and cots say that their attackers were not human, they called them Demons...
In hearing of these rumors and travesties, Shogun Tokujima of the eastern Hassai high council decides to do something about it.
Fujimoto Leyasu, an Usuneki specialist under Lord Tokujima, is ordered to take one of his subordinates, and investigate the travesties of the Shizuoka region.
Upon leaving Hassai, an assasin attempts to take his life before he leaves on his mission, after defeating her the assasin joins the ranks of Fujimoto's elite and comes along with them to Shizuoka.
Once in Shizuoka, it is apparent to them the rumors are true, the beings known as Demons have invaded these lands, and are quickly spreading and killing all that they can.
Fujimoto sends the assasin back to Hassai to inform Shogun Tokujima of what is happening, meanwhile our hero and his bodyguard risk their lives to save as many men, women, and children as they possibly can.
As the female assasin attempts to enter the city she is surrounded by the ninja who hired her to eliminate Fujimoto.
Now is where our story begins but our only question is
Will this be where our tale ends...

Characters

Story Heros

Tokijiro Inufane
Age: Somewhere between 20's and 30's
Weapon: ShadowBlade
Class: Shadow Guardsmen
Biography:
One of Fujimoto's most loyal Guardsmen. His blade is forged of the flames and darkness of Mt. Inuyama, also known as the mountain of dark shadows. He can master the art of his shadow and call it to aid him. He has also been friends with Takashi since they were young men.

Tamajiro Nobura
Age: 41
Weapon: Tung-Rifle
Class: Rifleman
Biography:
Fujimoto's close adviser, the wisest of all his warriors. He completely crafted his own weapon, it's bullets are fired 3x as fast as regular rifle pellets, and they have enchanted seals on them for fighting beings not of our world. He always makes sure to carry spare rifles in case of an emergency.

Azumi Toyatimo
Age: Under 21
Weapon: Kunai, Assasin's Blade, and Poisoned Shuriken
Class: Vicious Assasin
Biography:
Once a female assasin hired a fortune to eliminate Fujimoto, she now chooses to assist him in his endeavor, most likely because she has fallen in love with him. Though she is young, and very distracting, Fujimoto only realizes her as a skillful warrior, and not a sex hungry young woman. She searches for those who attempted to kill her after failing to complete her assination to kill Fujimoto.

Takashi Uremitsu
Age: 28
Weapon: Twin Whisper Blades
Class: Twin Blade Swordsman
Biography:
Tokijiro's childhood friend. When the two were young, they had an encounter with a rather large and frightening Demon. After surviving the ordeal together, they trained day and night to protect their family and friends from another Demon attack. One day the same Demon returned to vanquish their village, the two were not enough to defeat it but luckily our hero Fujimoto arrived on the scene and slayed the Demon. Inspired by Fujimoto's power the two took under his wing to learn the way of the Demon Slayer and at times... they can even surpass Fujimoto's Skill.

Honda Takashimi
Age: 24
Weapon: Power Rods, Fists, and Axes mixed with Fire Magic
Class: Mystic Guardian
Biography:
One of the survivors of the reknown Masai Village. While on leave escorting his longtime friend, Hiro, his village was ravaged to the ground despite their powerful Demon Slaying Clan techniques. Despite their amazing skill, they were no match for the Demons awaiting them as they returned to the ruins of their village.
Once again, Fujimoto enters the scene and saves these two young men from certain demise. The event has haunted Honda for near months now, and refuses to lose anything else dear to him, especially Hiro.

Hiro Yagutsu
Age: 21
Weapon: Magic & Archery
Class: Mystic Archer
Biography:
The other Survivor of the reknown Masai Village. Much like Honda he is torn and hurt from the loss of his families and friends. He is overprotective of Honda even tho it is Honda who is his bodyguard. Hiro is the son of the Elder Sage of Masai, which is why his magical skill is so much stronger.

Gendo Shidomo
Age: ????
Weapon: Unknown
Class: Dresses as a Ninja
Biography:
Though he appears young, no one knows much about Gendo except for Fujimoto. It is rare that Gendo shall even leave Fujimoto's side, and none of the other warriors have ever seen him in a fight. All that is known for sure is that Fujimoto trusts Gendo with his life, and is ranked higher than any other of his subordinates.
In the comming battle there is no doubt that Fujimoto will have to call on Gendo to fight, so we shall see what he can do sooner or later...

Fujimoto Leyasu
Age: 33
Weapon: Two Shimmering blades with different engravings on them
Class: Usuneki
Biography:
The great Usuneki warrior also known as the "Silent Crest", and "Silver Slayer".
Fujimoto doesn't talk much of his master, but lets everyone know that's who taught him all that he knows. Fujimoto has slain hundreds of thousands of Demons and has never been defeated, his speed is only matched by his power and lust for justice. He works under Lord Tokujima who gave created the position of Usuneki just for Fujimoto.

Shogun Tokujima
Age: 48
Weapon: ???
Class: Shogun
Biography:
One day Tokujima and a squad of more than 30 of his best men were ambushed by Demons. Quickly lord Tokujima realized this was a battle he could not win. Though they tried to escape they were cornered, cornered right in area of Fujimoto's current camp. Stepping onto the scene like a divine warrior, Fujimoto slayed each Demon directly in front of Lord Tokujima, and since then Tokujima has taken great care of Fujimoto. He created the position of Usuneki, which is much like a secret service agent for Demon activities. Tokujima would be called insane if he told the other Shogun of what he saw happen that day, so instead he keeps Fujimoto close by his side and pays in full for all of fujimoto's needs, whatever they may be.

*More Modes have been thought of but are not posted for safety against spoiling the fun of unlocking different modes! We still have room for 2 more modes so if you have an idea and think we havn't thought of it, leave a post and label it, "I GOT AN IDEA FOR A MODE" in big letters so we won't skip it.

Command System

Menu
The Menu is composed of a series of selection beacons in which you use a cursor to select your choice. The first choice you will make each time you start the game is to load codes or not load codes(host only). Other menu like choices choose game mode selection, special features that you can toggle on or off and etc. The menu system will also have a return to last menu option in case you select the wrong option.

Spells and Commands
Tales of Bushido is an RTC combat game that uses a real time dropship system for selection of commands. Types of commands you will be capable of is an interaction command labeled, -ACTION-. And a maximum of 4 spells for each hero you are in control of. There will also be special moments where you can issue commands to CCA'S(Computer Controlled Allies) for profiency. And of course before I forget, Tales of Bushido is proud to debut the use of COMBINATION TECHNIQUES as you all have always wanted to see them...

Combination Techniques
One of the new features Team PDF and Team Bushido will be proud to promote in Tales of Bushido, is the use of real-time combination skills. No this is not something as simple as, "i Use my spell, you use yours, and we call it COMBO MOVE!" No this is a very well triggered, very new way of having 2 PLAYERS select a combination attack skill and use it simultaneously. Combo Attacks will be a large part of the flash that we hope to bring to Tales of Bushido, as well as crucial to optimised gameplay. A good example of how Combination Attacks work, is 1 player will select to use "C-Attack", the flash from that player's character can work as an indicator to his teamate saying "USE THE SKILL NOW!"I thought of this because there WILL be moments in Tales of Bushido where you can not communicate with your allies through text. Sadly, my only downside to combination skills is I had to make it so THIS CHARACTER DOES IT WITH THAT CHARACTER, it's not open ended, it's 2 specific characters
(forgive my lazyness cry.gif ). When you get the chance, let us know how you feel about combination techniques, even if you feel they are a huge blowhole of idea and we havnt done anything so great, we would like opinion on our combination ideas, they were a big part of influencing the creation of this map!

Terrain & Settings

Tales of Bushido will be a game with some of the highest quality of Terrain.
This is because Tales of Bushido shall use 100% isometrical terrain, and do believe it shall be some of the best isometrical terrain you have layed eyes on in a map. Along with a promise to give the player a stunning display of isometrical Terrain, we also have thought up a great cache of unique settings for the players to play in, and here are few of the ones you'll be able to explore.

Shikigami Forest
A Deep forest covered in shadow. Normally a quiet refuge to those who can find it, but now it is a Den of Evil for unwordly things. This is where our storymode in the game begins, and the first set of screenshots in the screenshots section.
*Playable in Demo 01

Kushuragi Temple
Sacred river city housing a Temple of the great Kushuragi Warriors. The town itself is quite large, but the temple grounds are truly a splendor of human workmanship and effort. The Kushuragi Monks train themself to withstand pain, in order to defeat their enemy without fear of pain or death, the real question is can they withstand the onlsaught of our new unseen foes...
*Playable in Demo 02

Forgotten Capital
Underground cavern of a once grand city. Now it is a cesspool for Demons and their Hunters, for some reason it seems very familiar to many of the characters, why do they feel as if they know this place?
*CURRENTLY Playable in Demo 02(Subject to change)

Yutomo River Camp
The Yutomo Ninjas are a group of mercenaries well known throughout the country as "The Dark Assasination". This beautiful river town is the perfect camouflage for these deadly assasins. In truth they are much more than mercenaries... and are believed to be the cause behind the destruction in Shizuoka over the past year...
*Defenitely Playable by final Demo

WE have many more stages planned and completed for use in Tales of Bushido, but we are trying to leave 2 STAGES for YOU THE PLAYER to pick! If you have an idea of a setting or area you want to see in the game, just leave a post or pm me in big letters, "I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A SCENARIO" so we won't skip over it. Thanks alot, and hope you like the ideas we have planned for Tales of Bushido.

I'll take this time to respond to all the comments and questions.
No one stated this map had anything to do with Japan, if you wanna affiliate the names with Japanese culture... well go ahead. Bushido stands for way of the blade which IS in fact, a Japanese term. And thanks for yer input on the screenshots, I'll have a new tab explaining the terrain of the game by tomarrow.

this is a cool map blade. i just found the intro to be a little too...out of place?  maybe its just me but besides the intro...i LOVE THIS MAP! keep it up!!!!!

Hey buddy, you should have pointed out you tested the map!
Anyway to clear up any confusement, if you can't stand any cutscene for whatever reason, they're skippable for the reading or attention spand impaired, or if you've just seen it a ton of times biggrin.gif . Thanks for the input Ice.

Well this sounds like a very fun map. The only problem I see in it is that I can't pronounce Japanese for nothing, and so I will definately get all my characters, towns, and everything mixed into one giant mess and the storyline will pretty much be a disaster for me. blink.gif Other than that this map looks really nice gl on it.

Sounds quite amusing. With all the modes, I'm guessing the story mode won't be extravagent as it would've been. Especially since you listed the map size as 128x128. Of course, it still could, but with triggerwork and locations on varied gameplays, it can't attain the full potential of the SE engine it could've achieved if you focused on one game mode. But anyways, that combo system sounds neat. The players time their moves correctly, then voila, you get four extra hits to your attack or something. I think it would be a good idea that besides just pumping up your attack power when a combo is successful, there's some sort of added effect which makes it beneficial, and/or even essential to properly beat the game. If you had ever played Star Ocean 3, you might remember the battle trophy system, and that you had to perform special tasks in order to unlock special features in the game. Let's say there's this very difficult combo, and if the players manage to do such combo 3 times during the game, they unlock one of the sealed features or something. Of course, you may've thought of that already, so I'll just leave my suggestion at that.

As for demos, I don't think you really need more than two of them. You don't want to spoil too much of the game for the players, do you? The extra modes sound interesting, but it would be even more so if you somehow allowed the players to 'customize' their characters through the game, and for the battle arena, they'll be able to pit their custom character against others. On the other hand, that might not really be worth the effort, as the amount of characters you've listed seem to be more than enough to give one a reason to play the vs mode.

Simply put, I'm looking forward to see how this map turns out, as there are definately some innovative factors with several modes in the game. Good luck.

Really Liking the idea of multiple battle modes, but im curious to how well your storymode will go. It seems well laid out, and essential, but I find the whole vs. mode very more appealing. Hopefully you don't let us down with those combo move ideas, or the spells that you have planned.
Oh yeah, does your game have any music? And if so what kind of music are you going to use?
Keep up the work with this, I think this one will be one of the good ones.

-Decided not to do a spell index for the site, but maybe some example spells
-Finished Second cutscene marking the 100% completion of Demo 01
-Advanced story progression, and thought up some new twists
-Thought up some new spells
-Thought up more things that can be unlocked
-Began triggering a "hide n seek" system that will be explained later
-Thread name edited

To do list for the week:
-Upload Demo 01(hopefully before monday, depends on my spare time)
-Post demo description
-Finish Free for all Demo 01
-Finish scene 2, and introduce the first point in the plot
-Begin work on demo 02 free for all and storymode
-Finish each hero's 3rd spell, and balance

That's it for the updates for now. Hopefully demo will be uploaded by tomarrow so I can get some opinions.

P.S. We have opened up 2 testing spots. The positions are already pending, so if you wanted to become a tester, you need to hurry!
