I was making a map when suddenly the terrain editor became the square ones instead of the isometric one... wtf? Now it wont go back to the normal way of editing.

What editor is this?

Had you recently opened the map in starforge or SCMDRAFT 2? If so, your placing of square tiles in either one of them messed up the way terrain is placed in normal staredit, I don't know if theres any way to get it back to normal.

what he said. I messed with maps a while ago and i found this out. ohmy.gif i don't think it's fixable.

Yeah it seems to mess up the map for the reg editor

but how did the creators of scmd and sf make the square tiles in the first place if the real editor that blizzard made wont even support them right?

DL SCMDraft2 and you should be able to fix it, at least by doing terrain in that editor.

Blizzard's editor supports them, they're just hard to work with and you can't get the tiles to look decent. Its done by removing the ISOM (isometric) section of the scm/scx.

I was just making a High Dirt and surrounding it with water, thinking I could incorporate a story in it all... when it suddenly did that. I had a habitually made a save... then for the dumbest reason I didn't undo.... son of a f'in b.

So.. it's really unfixable?

ADDITION:
Ok, I just downloaded ISOM-Fix. It didn't exactly fix the situation. All that really happened was that the previous layer of terrain that was laid on is now like a blank sheet and a new layer is being built on top of it...

But if it supports them than how come you cant change it back did blizzard never intend on the rect. tiles and even so if they know about them which is likely because they know about everything than why didnt they update the editor like it has on sf and scmd

..

Isometric Terrain is placed because the ISOM section of the map explains how it is to be placed. When it is removed, Staredit doesn't know how to place the terrain, so it ends up as squares. Currently, no editor properly supports isometric terrain without the ISOM section.

Also, Blizzard has publically announced a long time ago that there will be no new patches to staredit.

Well hell that's it for the map then , I guess. It's really weird because in some places, if the terrain is same enough, it'll still be in ISOM -_-

Open the map in SCM Draft 2 and go over the rectangular terrain with isometrical terrain. Then try placing the terrain you wanted again. The terrain you went over should function as isometrical again.
