This map's main idea is fairly simple, a couple of fighters go into some sort of arena and fight to the death. I'm going to try to have different heroes available. The thing that's going to push this beyond other maps is that by the time I'm 100% Finished (game will be long released and updated by then) there should be 64 different special moves at the players' disposal.


Progress


-Ideas
•Combo-based move system utilizing a barracks.
•Giving a few special moves specific to the hero.
•A -lot- of creator/player integration, I am very open to new ideas.
•Different modes of play, involving both cooperative and competitive styles.
•Easy to pickup, but takes awhile to learn the moves' combinations for your every situation.

-Terrain
•Different modes have different terrains.
•In Arena mode it's the terrain is very basic.
•There's going to also be a Co-op adventure style mode, and its terrain.

-Unit placement
•Unit placement is quite a minor role here, although the ability area will be isolated.

-Triggers
•This is the tedious part.
•Going to use hyper-triggers.
•Have quick-buildtimes onto the units, and hopefully the hyper trigger can keep up.
•The move system is going to be along the lines of:

•This system will allow for easy modifications and additions.

-Note: Since there is little storyline or total map specifications thus far, I will continue without it.


Features

•A system of combo-style moves seen mainly in games like Mortal Kombat or Virtua Fighter style games.

-Player Interface
•Each player is going to have control of a barracks.
•When you aren't in the middle of an ability, you will have 3 Gas.
•Marines, Medics, Firebats, and Ghosts each cost 1 Gas.
•Hotkey both your Barracks and your Hero for maximum effectiveness.
•When you wish to execute the move, select your Barracks (usually by pushing '2', if you've hotkeyed it) and insert the combination, such as MMF or FGC. Keep in mind the order DOES matter. FFM is different than FMF which is also different than MFF.
•Marines are High damage-single target. (Think of a sniper rifle)
•Firebats are Spreadfire, low damage. (Think of a small explosive)
•Medics are status abnormalities, such as dark swarm or irradiate. (Think chemical warfare)
•Ghosts are specialty, the ones that don't fit in either of those.

Sorry but I must wrap this up now... I wish I could post more information at this time, but that is not to be. Storyline isn't very important to me at this time, and neither is character development or background. I do not have a demo ready or screenshots. When I have the information, you'll have the information.

P.S. If someone would like to assist in terrain, I would be appreciative. I've always been more about triggers and such.

[EDIT] Fixed a typo.

[EDIT] (3/10/06) I've made some advancements. So far I've just gotten a few abilities working, so I know my system is operational. I have MANY templates open, so updates can be frequent and easy. I may release a very early version of this map, if there is any demand for it.

Bad news is, I'll be unable to get any serious work in for awhile. I've got testing all next week, and I'm going to a funeral over the weekend. If I can get the laptop operational, I'll be able to get some work done. I'm not completely worried about the tests, but I'm unsure as to whether or not tests and regular schooling will affect my ability to do advancements in my staredit projects.
