Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> How to extract the single player maps?

Can anyone tell me how I'd go about extracting the single player maps from the game to look at them? And are the sounds for the missions stored inside them like they are for multiplayer maps or are they somewhere else?

Thanks in advance for anyone who helps.

Someone has done it for you! There is also a Brood War section. No, the sounds aren't in the maps. Just the maps and the triggers.

Thanks!

But does anyone know how I'd go about getting the sounds for the maps? I kinda need them.

Do you mean simply the unit sounds? Or the speeches from the campaign?

The speeches from the campaign.

You can use starforge and in the sounds area you can extract sounds from your cd.

I also have a program that is an MPQ extractor, you can download it here. Ok nevermind I am not allowed to upload files with .exe extentions. I'll try looking for it in the download database.

Edit: Ok found it http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=3093
and you will also need VB4 to run it http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=362

SF screws up sounds so use SCMD for this.

But starforge works perfectly fine to extract sounds from your cd. I always use it to get Starcraft sounds.

What file on the CD are the sounds in? I tried both Install.exe and just saw a bunch of unknown stuff and it won't open Setup.exe. Is it in one of the sub folders?

screw it, use WinMPQ
run it and open Stardat.mpq or Broodat.mpq
find the sounds all of them are saved as .wav and they can be found under sounds\ extention its easy to find them oh and if you see a bunch of unknowns when you open stardat or broodat you may need to implement winmpq with a listfile that can be found somewhere in here. ill post it soon
listfile

I'm pretty sure it should be in the Install.exe and it is a lot easier if you just use the Starforge one. Assuming you are using the Broodwar cd

Go to the sounds area in Starforge.
BROODWAR>campaigns>>either expprotoss, expterran or expzerg, then there will be a bunch of folders and in those folders will have the sounds from the campaigns.

How come SF doesn't extract sounds for me? Whenever I try to extract, the .wav file choice is not available in the "extract as" place. The only option available is "all files". What's this and how do I fix it?
