Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Can Floor Traps be created or removed ?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mydas on 2006-03-06 at 09:20:17
I'm working on this RPG and I'd really like a spell which created a Floor Sentry Gun near my hero. I tried creating one through triggers or moving a preplaced one near the hero ... nothing worked T_T.

Same for a Floor Hatch, I'd like to create one under the hero.

EDIT: I've read the basic help and realised you can't create 'em. But moving didn't work, so ... what to do ?

Also, I have a few more questions.
- How do you rename switches in StarForge ?
- Can a portion of the map become unexplored again ?
- How can you make a cloaked bunker, for example, without the player actually see the bunker when in fog of war ?

1) You cant create floor traps or floor hatch
2) If you cant rename switches on starforge, rename them on xtra editor
3) No it cant be unexplored again unless u restart game
4) You can trick us by creating it, removing a building that is stacked in a area, move the bunker there, disable it. For example under a engineering bay. But it would still attack from where it was moved from.

-i think the floor traps can't be created through triggers, however spells and abilities work on them...recalling them, mind control, lockdown, etc works on them...
i haven't tested moving floor traps somewhere else, but i've tried creating it through triggers but that didn't work...
-about the fog of war, echo covered it
-floor hatch cannot be moved nor created trhough triggers...i might think of this as a wierd idea, i don't know what kind
-think the only way they said to cloak a bunker is by disabling and enabling and put a detector near it...
- i don't know about renaming switches in starforge but it works with normal and scmdraft

1. How about moving them ? Traps & Hatches ?
2. Entering XtraEditor removes certain units / doodads from the map, not possible.
3. Thanks.
4. I don't think i managed to get you ... I only understood that you could make a Bunker attack halfway through the map :/

the only way you can move a trap or create is to recall. ive seen this done
the rest is up to the others. i got a headache.

Then use SCMDRAFT instead of xtra editor or just readd them later

"4) You can trick us by creating it, removing a building that is stacked in a area, move the bunker there, disable it. For example under a engineering bay. But it would still attack from where it was moved from. "

Can you be more specific ? Sounds like an option ...

It's possible to Recall gun traps with an Arbiter, but you have to make sure the area has no units that will block it from moving there. It'll look a little weird too.

You don't. You could just write them down somewhere or remember what they do yourself.

Nope.

If the Bunker is there, the players can see it. So, you can't.

When you move a Bunker, the units inside don't move with it, and they still attack from their original position.
For example, if you have a bunker full of Marines at Location A, and you move the Bunker across the map to Location B, the Marines will still attack things at Location A.

Hum.. good tip
But you never be able to create any unit who are not available in StarEdit.
You can give, move, etc. the units but you cannot create it.
