Hey ppl,
What I want is a city landscape in my map....this means a blend like this
l l means road/street
[ ] means sidwalk
{ } means building
I was hoping someone could help me find a good blend for baldlands using this order
l l[ ]{ }
Now I k its not possible up and down and its impossible for a good blending of a building to be up and down.....so everything should be on an angle
\street\ \\Building\
^
sidewalk
If someone could come up with a good blend I would be thankfull
Even if its wooden it would just be another way for you to show your skill
Thanks,
Ocean
the easiest way without doing extended would be the space platform terrain. And i might add extended platform terrain is very sexy.
I remember seeing a really nice example someone made a really long time ago.. I don't know where it is now
Well i tried this thing out. And this is what i got.
Its blocky sure, But im just showing what an overveiw how it would look like.

look!
thats good but i think it needs to be walkable :/ i was trying to do the same thing but stopped when i couldnt make it walkable
Why does it have to be walkable? What if little kids need that unwalkable part

well it doesnt all have to be walkable the street should be but if you could just make a way for a man to walk from the street onto the sidwalk I could use your idea
You could make a break in the seperation of the sidewalk and street.
Couldn't you use the missle trap doodad/unit as sidewalk? That might work... Ive done it before in terran contest... (of course the winner hasnt been announced yet.
just make it vertical instead of diagonal
I think he wants isom terrain now rect Son)
Yeah Hertz terrain looks like it would work for what your want with some touching up
He said at an angle Insane. My way almost works, except that a unit (ground) disappears behind the sprite/doodad sometimes...
A of S t, you are very annoying, gg kthx
But lll said himself in the forum he wants it diagonal. and sprites/units make stuff look ugly.
How is what I said annoying? And besides, how else are you going to do this? Ur way makes it unwalkable, which may be ok, but players are going to get annoyed by that, and U KNOW IT. And if you put the sprites nicely in SCMDraft, it doesn't look 'ugly' ... gosh. And omg, I said he wants it isometrical... If anything, ur annyoing me.
The trap UNITS work great, so long as they're set as p12, invincible, and never detected. They're not ugly at all.
Thank you Wilhelm, o, and if ur using SCM or StarForge, make the Player you give them to a color that blends with the backround. My guess is that they looked ugly for Hertz because you didnt use the 'units snap to grid' option.
Edit: look at my siggy pic to see some doodad blending.
Your still annoying, and unit SPRITE's are images. nothing else.
I did not say sprites. Units, the unit floor traps never cover up the units while down, it's in the game's programming to put beacons and down floor traps below all other units. How is he annoying, because he has a point?
O, and if I'm annoying, what are you Hertz? If you use a sprite, it goes over ground units. If you use the unit, then it goes under ground units. Whant me to show you a picture to show the difference?
Sprites are IMAGES, You can't walk over them. And keep your voice down flamer!
I don't think you read what I wrote :
QUOTE
If you use a sprite, it goes over ground units.
That is exactly the same as what you said:
QUOTE
Sprites are IMAGES, You can't walk over them
SO I wouldn't be calling me a flamer.
And to lll, I am going to start on this now that I finished my year long project for school, Ill try to post a map of it in two days.

And I'll show a snapshot with both SPRITES and UNITS and you'll see the difference.
Sheesh settle down. It's an image.
Units have sprites as well. So he could be talking about the unit sprites rather than simply the sprites. Sprite is just the term for the picture of the units.
I'm sure we've all seen the difference between a sprite and an image. Sprites are under the unit if he is farthere down vertically, and over them if they are above the sprite center. Units on the other hand can go either under other units, or over them, depending on the unit.
SO, who's right? I want him to stop flaming me on every thread I post on ( I am over-exaggerating ), so I want to know if I should shut up or he should. Or are we both right in our own special way?
