The raffle is getting crappy sales. I'm thinking of doing one of these.
» Put base jackpot to 100.
» Put ticket cost to 10, only add 5 to jackpot (this way the lower class can play).
Any input?

Well, the lower class will be able to play, but when a complete flamer/spammer has 1000+ minerals it can cause confusion.

Anyway, I suspect that, like me, most people don't play because they know that the chances of winning are slim.

If you remember, I suggested the first suggestion ~ 3 1/3 months ago, so I guess that's a good idea.

I think a lot more people would buy a ticket if they were reminded about it. At first, everybody talked about it and stuff, so they all bought right away, but now, it's sort of a second thought, so nobody really pays attention to it.

Maybe you could make a small section on the latest news page where it says, TODAYS RAFFLE WINNER = GgG-Deathawk and under that a button where you can buy al raffle ticket.

I like the base idea, Not the other one though.

I liked how the old one you could by more than one ticket to increase you chances slightly. If people really wanted to win, they would buy more. (I would do a maximum of about 5)

Yeah that is a good idea. Cost less and initial value is better but in the end you don't get as much but I still like it. Even when there are only 5 people who buy tickets...I have yet to win.

Allow the user to check an option that makes that person automatically buy a ticket everyday. I forget everytime. sad.gif

Haha, I use to buy tickets. However, I'm waiting for the day that almost no one will have bought tickets. I don't want to lose 150+ minerals again sad.gif.

Nah, the add to the jackpot will be too low then, even thought the cost was cut in half too. Still go for it, see what the results are. If the results are bad then change it back.

People are not playing because the prices are way to low.

» Base pot 100-200
» Drop the 50% stuff, make it so all the cash goes to jackpot.
» Ticked should still be 20, lower class can afford that wink.gif

I have been buying a ticket since the beginning of febuary and not have one once -.-

Anyway you can rig it so i can win once? and spend it all biggrin.gif

Raffles just aren't meant to be daily things. Nobody participates in something where you on average lose money every day. What percentage of the population is a US state do you think buys a lottery ticket at least once a month? Probably very few.

Well this might get more mins in the raffle since more people would play...I mean it is cheap (finally) and everyone might play more since it is cheap.

But DTBK, this isn't real money. This is minerals, which already hold almost no worth. If lottery tickets costed minerals from SEN, and you won REAL money I'm sure a lot more people would buy them.

How about an auto-buy function that buys a designated number of tickets daily for you (provided you have enough minerals of course)?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mune'R0x on 2006-03-12 at 13:28:49
Sweet, I spent my last 20 minerals on a ticket, and won the jackpot of 180.

I'd say make it a lottery instead of a raffle and make it a cumulative jackpot.

Not winning money is even less incentive to play.

I was just saying you can't compare losing real money to losing minerals.

And people buy raffle tickets now because they'd like to get more minerals, but don't mind losing them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-03-12 at 14:03:21
People who care about getting more minerals care about losing them. People who don't care about losing minerals don't care tha much about getting them, either; hence they don't bother to buy a ticket constantly.

I think it is good idea. But this doesn't really mean more people will play. This will just mean that poorer people will win the lottery. I invested heavily on the raffle myself, and have yet to win it once.

Mini. I wanna say that the new thing you put in, "magic boxes" is really sick. Good Job cool1.gif

It's not that people aren't playing. It's that there isn't enough payoff to entice further playing. People pitch in about 80-100 minerals a week. Sadly throwing in this money is only feeding the fire that is bestowed upon the most lucky. Essentially the money they use to play the raffle, cancels out the bonuses that they get. And abou 70% of the users you still play, either flopped or balanced on their earnings. Really, there's not enough earnings. However...

I feel you should try coding something that will be more enticing.

How about this?

Base Earnings: 100 minerals.
Ticket Cost: 20 Minerals.
Each Ticket Bought: +10 minerals to the base earnings.
Each Ticket Bought: +05 to the jackpot.
Base Jackpot: 150 minerals.

Each ticket bought gives the same as usual, essentially this is the same design as first thought out. However, you should also add money into a jackpot that is disributed every week. So... if 18 players play every day, it gives up 90 to the jackpot, times it by 7 and get 630 total per week + 150 base and get 780. The total jackpot is auctioned off to the people who have already bought a ticket. Meaning that if you participated in 6 of the 7 total days per jackpot, then you will have a 7/126 chance of getting the jackpot. This is a 140 gamble for 780. However, the statistics are only based on the current average gamblers.

In short. It is a mixture of the current raffle and the new one. Buy a ticket for daily profit, each ticket you buy throws it into a lottery at the end for a bigger jackpot (note that there is a 25% mineral loss in each users input and a 30 user gap that is buffered with the free 150 to start).

By adding in this, we will have a very fun and powerful game in sen. Not as powerful as the first generation raffle, but it is definitely worth it to play now.

Maybe you can think also on a macro scale. Like have a monthly raffle that calculates all the tickets someone buys in a 30 day period for better money. Who knows.

A daily raffle that leads into a weekly raffle... that sounds alright.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HeRtZ on 2006-03-16 at 15:54:13
The raffle is gay, i havn't one once in all the 32 times i tried.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Freedawk on 2006-03-16 at 17:27:55
Maybe you should put up random kiwis and other items up in the raffle...Make some more people try to win it.
