Is it possible to launch a nuclear missile without the visual/audio notifications? I want to utilize the ghost's lazer targeting, normally used in nuclear missile strikes, for lazer targeting an air strike, and it's weird to hear/see "nuclear launch detected" when you're calling an air strike.
One way to keep it from giving you the warning is to give the nuke to a computer player and ordering it to patrol somewhere. The nuke will go and float around, the ghost will stand there with the laser dot forever. (The nuke will never drop)
So do something like..
Trigger
Description:
Nuke hold
|
Players:
¤ player 8
Conditions:
¤ Always
Actions:
¤ Give all nuclear missile owned by player 1 at anywhere to player 8
?
And then if I were to remove the nuclear missile would the ghost resume?
I think that crashes SC... let me check...
ADDITION:
Ahem, giving the nuke to a computer/neutral player crashes sc. Removing the nuke crashes SC. Sorry, Ill post the map.
ADD: I can't post the map, an error keeps occuring.
this might be a stupid idea, but think you can make it pop up another text thing after it displays 'nuclaer launch detected'? and cover it with another sound file?its like covering the nuclear launch stuff with your own csutom thing, dont know if that will work or not...
Pretty much the only thing you can do but the nuke will still hit.
No, trying to cover up Nulcear Launch Detected won't work. Say you tell the game to display a flood of enters or a flood of A's, this is what will happen:
...
A
A
A
A
Nuclear Launch Detected
The Nuclear... does not take up talking room, it displays this message one line BELOW the talking area. Sorry to burst ur buuble.
As for the sound part, does Mute Unit Speech get rid of it?
Whoa, you're saying Kenoli is wrong O_o?

If you just give the nuke to another player it will still drop like normal; you have to make it do something else with the
junk yard dog or
make these patrol ai scripts. Killing/removing it will probably work too.
I don't seem to be able to upload anything, so I guess you'll just have to try it yourself.

No, it dosen't.

Nope.

Nope. =P
if you didnt want to do all that trouble...couldnt you just make it look like an arieal attack? like kill 15 orbs at one spot with locations over them, and when they die, so does everything eles under them?
O, I figured out y it crashed SC. I made a trigger that gave the nuke to the comp while the nuke was still in the silo. No, it doesn't crash SC, sorry Kenoli.
I asked Mini Moose and Legendary, they said just to be patient about the attachments.

Well, that is a possibility but then it loses the realism of lazering the coordinates to the bombers.
I think if I can time it out
just right.. it'll look like the bombers dropped the nuke. You think?
Except if you diplay text and sounds after the nuke dropped it would get rid of text ;0.

And it is gone. Play another sound to cover that up and its done.
That doesnt work Kept Wheat. Look what I said before.
Yeah, you can't cover up a message like Nuclear Launch Detected, or Cheat Enabled because it does not actually count as a message, its out of the text box... There was probably a way with EUDs, but they went poof :\
to cover up the sound, use the null sound(forge) it stops wavs.

sharf, u posted twice

I dont think the null sound will cover it up... But I'm lazy to check, so, I'll take your word for it.
